Yeouido tteokbokki bar: mild combo, all dipped in sauce, Hyeonseonine

Today I'm introducing Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch (현선이네 프리미엄 IFC몰점), where I had a seriously generous Korean snack-bar meal in Yeouido 😊 I was wondering what to have for lunch in Yeouido, and that day I suddenly craved sweet and spicy tteokbokki (chewy rice cakes in red sauce), so here I was!

Tteokbokki alone felt a bit lacking, so I ordered the Hyeonseonine combo set, haha. You get tteokbokki, sundae (Korean blood sausage), mini gimbap (seaweed rice rolls), assorted fried snacks and hot fish cake broth all at once. Snack-bar food just tastes best when the whole table is full like this, lol. So shall we find out what the place is like~? 😆

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch: location and hours

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is on the B2 street-shop level of IFC Mall, 10 Gukjegeumyung-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, about 4 minutes from Exit 3 of Yeouido Station. It's open daily from 11:00 to 21:00, with last order at 20:40.

The B2 storefront: easy to find?

The bold red sign says "Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki" in big letters, so it was easier to spot than I expected while walking along B2 of IFC Mall, haha. The front is all glass, so you can see the atmosphere inside, and the tteokbokki looked so good that my eyes kept drifting back to it as I walked past, lol.

It's on the underground passage linking Yeouido Station to IFC Mall, so you can get there without going outside. It would also be a good stop when you crave snack food after wandering The Hyundai Seoul, haha.

Inside Hyeonseonine IFC Mall Branch: seating

The shop felt clean and casual overall, and with proper hall tables it was comfortable to sit down and eat, haha. You can use both the tables inside and the shared tables outside the shop~

The tables didn't feel cramped, and I saw all kinds of customers, from people dining solo to groups of friends! It's nice that you can get tteokbokki, sundae, fried snacks and gimbap all in one go!

Hyeonseonine menu and spice levels

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch has a la carte items like basic tteokbokki, chewy sundae, mini gimbap, assorted fry and ramyeon (instant noodles), plus several set menus. Best of all, you can choose the spice level of the tteokbokki, so even people who can't handle very spicy food can order comfortably, haha.

After some happy deliberation, I ordered the mild Hyeonseonine combo set! 😆

What's in the Hyeonseonine combo set?

The Hyeonseonine combo set centers on red tteokbokki, with sundae, mini gimbap, golden assorted fry and hot fish cake broth filling the table. The moment everything arrived, I snapped a shot of the whole spread! Haha, it looked filling just to look at.

Isn't this the charm of a snack-bar spread, lol? Tteokbokki alone is great, but when you lay out a bunch of things, the happiness starts from the moment you wonder what to eat first 😆

The mild tteokbokki

The mild tteokbokki looked great, with the red sauce soaked right into the rice cakes, and my mouth watered the moment it arrived. There was plenty of sauce too, so from the first glance I thought, "I'm definitely dunking my fried snacks in this today, lol" 😂

I picked up one rice cake and the chewy texture was still there, and the sweet-spicy sauce went with it so well, absolutely delicious! It's an easy-to-eat style of tteokbokki, so my chopsticks kept going back for the next piece, haha. No wonder tteokbokki is the star at this Yeouido tteokbokki spot 😋

Assorted fry, dunked in the tteokbokki sauce

The assorted fry comes with several kinds, including squid fry, gimmari (glass noodle seaweed roll), sweet potato fry and vegetable fry. It's one of my favorites, and it came out golden brown, looking properly crispy right away~

I picked one up and it was crispy outside and moist inside, so it was good even on its own... but with tteokbokki sauce right in front of the fry, there's no way I'm just walking past it, lol. When I lightly dunked the crispy fry in the red sauce, it soaked into the coating and added a sweet-spicy taste, absolutely delicious 😋 When I go to a snack bar, fry plus tteokbokki is always my favorite combo, haha.

Sundae and organ meats

The sundae in the combo set came with organ meats, both cut into bite-size pieces, so the portion was more generous than I expected~ The sundae was chewy outside and moist inside, and mildly tasty even on its own!

Dunked in the tteokbokki sauce, the mild sundae picked up the sweet-spicy flavor and the taste really came alive 😆

Mini gimbap, soaked in the broth too

The mini gimbap is one-bite size, so it looked perfect to eat with tteokbokki. It's small, but there are fillings inside, so even on its own it was nutty and mild, haha.

But of course, at Hyeonseonine... you have to dip the mini gimbap lightly in the tteokbokki sauce too, lol. When the sweet-spicy sauce soaks into the nutty gimbap, this combo is seriously amazing 🤤 The sauce goes well with almost everything on the table, so I kept dunking, lol.
