Low Five Anguk, a pizza place I stopped by on a weekend Bukchon stroll

Low Five Anguk is a Western restaurant on Bukchon-ro near Anguk Station, and there's a wait every weekend. I'd been curious about it during my Anguk outings. I always just walked past, so this time I decided to finally eat there properly. The interior is moody and photogenic, and the food has a personality of its own instead of the usual Western menu, which left an impression. If you're looking for a good place near Anguk Station or a Bukchon date course, keep reading.

How did I cut the weekend wait at Low Five Anguk?

I heard Low Five Anguk has a wait on weekends, so I set up remote queuing on Catch Table before heading out, and thanks to that I didn't wait long 😊 Anguk is packed on weekends, of course. I'd come out to walk the Bukchon alleys and browse some small shops, and as lunchtime got closer I started getting hungry. Low Five, which I'd wanted to try anyway, was close by, so I went straight there.

Low Five Anguk interior and atmosphere

Low Five Anguk blends wood-toned interiors, soft lighting and stylish little props. There's a reason everyone starts taking photos the moment they walk in. It has that trendy, hip feel but doesn't look overdone, and it's comfortable to linger in. The window side especially gets great light, so food photos come out pretty too.

Looking at the tables around me, there were lots of couples on dates and groups of friends enjoying it like brunch. That was the moment I understood why it keeps coming up as an Anguk hot spot. Even before the food arrives, you end up taking a few photos by default.

Tex Max taco pizza: now I see why everyone orders it

The dish I was most looking forward to at Low Five Anguk was the Tex Max taco pizza, and if it's your first visit, I recommend ordering it. Honestly, from the photos I thought it was just a pretty dish, but in person the topping portion is quite generous. When I lifted a slice, the ground meat and toppings tumbled off, which made me laugh.

When you taste it, there's a subtle spiciness like you get from tacos, and the sour cream softens the whole flavor. The crunch of nacho chips here and there is fun too. My companion even said this was the most memorable dish. If you're visiting Low Five for the first time, I'd really recommend trying this one.

Hot chili potato pizza: I reached for it more than I expected

The hot chili potato pizza at Low Five Anguk comes with plenty of french fries on top, and the sweet-and-spicy sauce keeps you reaching for another slice. Honestly, I figured you can get a potato pizza anywhere. But this one was much better than I expected. Even with all those fries, it wasn't heavy at all.

If the taco pizza is the one with personality, the potato pizza is the one anyone would like. I thought it would go over well with kids too. Before I knew it, a few slices of it were the first to disappear.

Alfredo cream pasta: satisfying if you like thick, rich cream pasta

The Alfredo cream pasta at Low Five Anguk had a cream that wasn't too runny but nicely thick, which I personally liked. Eating only pizza can get a bit heavy, but alternating with the pasta made a good combination. The butter and cheese flavors come through strongly, so I think people who love cream pasta will be satisfied. It seems like a safe, plain choice, but it has a surprising presence.

Avocado kimchi fried rice: surprisingly the first to vanish

The biggest twist of the day at Low Five Anguk was the avocado kimchi fried rice (kimchi-bokkeumbap). Honestly, I only ordered it at first because I figured we should add one rice dish alongside the pizza and pasta.

But in the end, this was the dish that disappeared fastest. Soft avocado sits on top of spicy stir-fried kimchi rice, and the combination is really good, more than I expected. Taking a spoonful between pizza and pasta felt like it cleaned up my palate, so I kept eating it. No wonder it gets mentioned in every Low Five review.

Is Low Five Anguk worth it as an Anguk date spot?

Low Five Anguk isn't just a place that photographs well; the food itself has personality, so I think it's a high-satisfaction pick as a nice restaurant near Anguk Station or a Bukchon date course. When I came out after the meal, there were still quite a lot of people waiting to get in. And the Tex Max taco pizza with the avocado kimchi fried rice? Need I say more... Next time I'm in Anguk, I plan to come back and try the other dishes too 😊
