Where can you take a boat with a child in Yangyang?

After visiting a nearby park, we stopped by Cafe Dunchi because my child wanted to ride a boat. This café beside Yangyang’s Namdaecheon River lets you have a drink and ride an electric boat. We had stopped by by chance, but the time we spent on the river together was especially memorable from this trip.

What are the parking and surroundings like?

The address is 295 Ilchul-ro, Yangyang-eup. I could park for free in the large open lot before crossing the bridge. It was convenient to visit by car, and the parking space felt ample.

Cross a small bridge through the willow trees and you come to the low-slung café by the river. The Namdaecheon River stretches beyond its floor-to-ceiling windows, with small boats moored along the bank. As it sits on the lower reaches of the river, I could also see the sea horizon in the distance.

How were the drinks we brought onto the boat?

I was told that the café brings in beans from a Gangneung roastery frequently and in small batches. My coffee tasted clean, and my child drank their drink well because it was not overly sweet. We took our ordered drinks onto the boat.

How much is the electric boat, and what was it like with a child?

The electric boat cost ₩28,000 for 30 minutes per boat for 1–6 people. Rather than pedaling, it is operated electrically with a joystick, so we could move without much effort.

Before we boarded, they explained how to operate it and gave us life jackets for our group. There was also a timer on the boat table to check our time. After the explanation and preparation, I felt less uneasy about riding with my child.

Once we were out on the river, the wind blew as I drank my coffee and sunlight shimmered on the water. The view opened up all the way to the distant sea horizon. I also remember how excited my child looked when I let them steer for a moment.

Is there anywhere to walk after the boat ride?

Namdaecheon Salmon Ecology Park runs right beside the café. It has a deck path and an observatory among reeds and silver grass, so we took an easy lap after getting off the boat. There was no admission fee, and my child did not get bored while walking along in the river breeze. It worked well to combine the café, boat ride, and park walk into a half-day outing.

How should you check the hours and restroom situation before visiting?

The café hours listed in the original post are daily from 10:00 to 21:00, with last orders at 20:30. Boat hours are 10:00–18:00, ending earlier than the café, so it is best to leave enough time if you want to try the experience. Dogs were also listed as allowed.

There was no restroom inside the café. If you are visiting with a child, it is more convenient to stop by the restroom near the entrance before going in. The view of the river and sea together on a clear day remains especially memorable.
