Jonggak Station burger spot: 3 combos and break time at Reel Burger
In short
Reel Burger Gwanghwamun is a newly opened handmade burger restaurant on Sambong-ro in Jongno, Seoul, about 390m on foot from Jonggak Station Exit 2. The writer ordered the cheese burger, El Taco burger and jalapeño mayo burger combos, each swapped to maple sweet potato fries, and all three burgers came generously filled with smoky, fire-grilled beef patties. Reel Burger Gwanghwamun makes a satisfying Gwanghwamun lunch or dinner, as long as you check the weekday break time, the 3pm Saturday close and the Sunday closure first.

I heard that Reel Burger, the burger brand that got so much buzz in Ttukseom and at The Hyundai Seoul in Yeouido, had opened a new branch in Gwanghwamun, so I went to Reel Burger Gwanghwamun for some handmade burgers.

Reel Burger Gwanghwamun atmosphere and seating
As you'd expect from a newly opened place, the whole restaurant felt clean and fresh. It's bright and comfortable inside, a nice spot to enjoy a casual burger.

The tables and seats were kept tidy too, so I could settle in comfortably while eating.
Self-service corner and table setup

The self-service corner at Reel Burger Gwanghwamun has water and cups, tissues and a variety of sauces. A fork and knife are set out at each seat, and pickles came along too. They were crunchy and tangy, and went well with the burgers.
Reel Burger Gwanghwamun combo prices and the sweet potato fries swap
I ordered three combos this day: the cheese burger combo, the El Taco burger combo and the jalapeño mayo burger combo, and I swapped the side to sweet potato fries on all of them.
- Cheese burger combo (+ sweet potato fries) ₩14,900
- El Taco burger combo (+ sweet potato fries) ₩17,900
- Jalapeño mayo burger combo (+ sweet potato fries) ₩16,900
The combo comes with a cola. Instead of the regular fries, you can switch to maple sweet potato fries for ₩1,000 more. I'd heard the sweet potato fries are especially good, so that's what I picked.
The combo drink is Coca-Cola

Personally I prefer Coca-Cola, so I was happy that the Reel Burger combo comes with it. The can had a silicone lid on top, which looked neat and kind of cute.
How do the cheese burger, El Taco burger and jalapeño mayo burger taste?
Cheese burger combo

The Reel Burger cheese burger had a rich, nutty cheese flavor, and it wasn't greasy, so it was easy to eat. The beef patty had a faint fire-grilled aroma and tasted great.
El Taco burger combo

The El Taco burger came with vegetables, nachos and taco sauce, just like a taco. I liked the crunch of the nachos, and with the sauce it all came together as something unique and delicious.
Jalapeño mayo burger combo

The jalapeño mayo burger kept that characteristic jalapeño kick. It wasn't harshly spicy, and it paired well with the creamy mayo sauce, so it was easy to enjoy.
All three burgers were packed with fillings, so they looked great and worked well as a full meal. The bun, the fire-grilled patty, the vegetables and the sauce all went together nicely. If you like handmade burgers, you can just pick whichever suits your taste.
Is the maple sweet potato fries upgrade worth ₩1,000?

I'd heard good things about the Reel Burger maple sweet potato fries and had high hopes, and the taste was satisfying. The subtle sweetness of the maple made it a great side. I'd order the sweet potato fries again next time.
I also captured the atmosphere inside Reel Burger Gwanghwamun and the dishes I ordered on video.

Reel Burger Gwanghwamun: final thoughts
I wanted a handmade burger and went to Reel Burger Gwanghwamun, and it was a satisfying meal. The fillings were generous, the vegetables were fresh, and the fire-grilled patty left an impression. The maple sweet potato fries I ordered as a side were delicious too, so I left happily full.
If you're looking for a restaurant near Gwanghwamun, I felt it would be a good choice for a quick lunch or dinner.
