I want to recommend some easy, not-so-common board games! There were three of us playing, so every game here works for 2 or more people. I tried a lot of these for the first time and they were so much fun. I went to Hero Board Game Cafe in Nowon — perfect for things to do in Nowon or an indoor date. Doing all of these takes about a 2-hour course.

Can you play Nintendo and PlayStation at Hero Board Game Cafe, not just board games?

I thought this place was only for board games, but Hero Board Game Cafe also has Nintendo, PlayStation, a Tekken arcade machine and more. Perfect for things to do in Nowon or an indoor date~

Also, unlike how it looks from the outside, the interior was pretty spacious. There was a room that could fit up to 8 people, and a separate Nintendo room too. Best of all, it was clean — nice!!

Menu board listing 33 bingsu flavors

33 kinds of bingsu and a non-alcoholic Cinderella cocktail

And apparently this place is famous for bingsu (shaved ice dessert)!! A board game café in Nowon with 33 kinds of bingsu… no wonder delivery orders kept coming in through Baemin. Board games are one menu per person, but bingsu counts as two people's order. So it seems totally worth getting bingsu too! Nice, nice.

A glass of the non-alcoholic Cinderella cocktail

We ordered Cinderella, café latte, and a Java Chip Frappuccino. But seriously, I have to recommend the non-alcoholic Cinderella cocktail. First time ordering something like this, and it's a pineapple orange flavor — so good!! Fresh and sweet, really nice.

Above all, the games were kept clean and well-managed. There were tons of options, and some seemed newly added too. They even had the currently trendy murder mystery game!! I wanted to play but it takes 2 hours so I couldn't fit it in before my next plan, ugh. Hero Board Game Cafe in Nowon is clean and great, so give it a visit!!

Six easy board games for 2 or more players in Nowon

Board game 1 · Mom's Errand (엄마의 심부름, 2-4 players)

Box for the Mom's Errand board game
Mom's Errand game components and bell

Mom's Errand Difficulty ⭐️ Players 2-4 Setup: scatter cards of food items and prices around a bell Rules: everyone turns over one condition card and one allowance card at a time, then quickly gathers cards matching the condition and price before hitting the bell. If you shopped correctly and rang the bell, you take the allowance — the game ends once someone's allowance passes ₩100,000!

Super easy, right?? We laughed so hard playing this. Condition cards include things like "food with no cheese" or "buy naengmyeon (cold noodles) plus other stuff" — and if you play well it can even start arguments, hahaha.

Board game 2 · Lupin Louis (루팡루이, 2-4 players)

Rufus Cuckoo board game machine and tokens

Rufus Cuckoo Difficulty: beginner Players: 2-4 But I think it would be most fun with 4. Setup: assemble the machine Rules: each player loads 3 tokens onto the machine, then when it's switched on, an airplane figure spins around — press the pedal to knock off other players' tokens without dropping your own! Lose all 3 tokens and you're out.

This game is great for playing mindlessly without thinking. The first round we went crazy and it was so much fun. I'm already on my 4th round

Board game 3 · Fool Game (바보게임, 3-8 players)

Fool Game cards and token setup

Fool Game Difficulty: beginner Players: 3-8, though I think it works fine with just 2 too?? Actually your turn comes around faster, which makes it more frantic and probably even more fun~~ Setup: split 3 tokens each and flip cards in order to start! Rules: players flip cards one at a time — horizontal cards are shared mission cards, vertical cards are personal mission cards. Shared mission cards go next to the deck; if the same color appears, stack it, if a different color appears, set it aside, and you must complete every mission card. If you forget and fail to complete one, you lose a token, and losing all tokens means you lose!!

The more cards pile up during this game, the more missions you have to do, and it starts to hurt your brain. You really do feel like a fool, hahaha. The instructions on the mission cards are so funny too — hilarious to play together.

Board game 4 · Jumping Dice (점핑다이스, 2-4 players)

Jumping Dice dice cups and card deck

Jumping Dice Difficulty: beginner Players: 2-4 Setup: each person gets 3 dice cups in their color Rules: flip a card from the deck, shake your dice cups to match the shown condition, then hit the bell when done!! Whoever rings first takes the card, and whoever collects the most cards wins~!

Insane focus required. It's simple, but we got so into it that we didn't notice time passing until the whole deck was gone.

Board game 5 · Mr. Smith Lives in Switzerland (스위스사는스미스씨, 2-6 players)

Deck of cards for Mr. Smith Lives in Switzerland

Mr. Smith Lives in Switzerland Difficulty: beginner Players: 2-6 Setup: stack the deck face-down in the center to start Rules: look at the arrow on the back of the card and read it out loud going left or right accordingly. Mispronounce it and you take the card. Collect 5 cards and you lose.

Your pronunciation gets so garbled it's hilarious, hahaha. The more cards pile up, the harder it gets. Simple enough to play in a short burst.

Board game 6 · Master of Skewers (꼬치의 달인, 2-4 players)

Master of Skewers game components and skewers

Master of Skewers Difficulty: intermediate Players: 2-4 (the expansion supports up to 6) Setup: split skewers, 4 vegetable blocks, cheese, and bacon among players Rules: when a card flips over, quickly build the skewer matching the exact shape shown to win the round. When you submit your skewer you have to say "Enjoy your meal!!" and if a yellow-guy card appears, whoever says "Welcome!" fastest gets to steal another player's skewer card — or if nobody has one, just take a skewer card.

Building skewers like a maniac and shouting "Enjoy your meal!!" is way too fun, hahaha, seriously hilarious. This game was popular on social media so I'm guessing a lot of people already know it.
