After is a roastery café on a side street in Ido-i-dong, at 51 Yeonsin-ro, 1st floor, Jeju-si. When you're enjoying a trip to Jeju, there come moments when you want to stop, rest, and have a fragrant, carefully made cup of coffee and a good dessert, right? While passing through the Ido-i-dong area on this trip, I found a Jeju City café with beautiful interiors and real care for its beans, and I left very happy.

After was a quiet, atmospheric roastery café. It sits on a calm, tidy street in Ido-i-dong, so it's also very convenient to drop by while driving around on a trip. When I walked in right at opening time, the spacious, pleasant interior caught my eye at once, with calm modern black tones mixed with warm wooden furniture 👍

Seating and atmosphere at After

The seats at After are spaced very widely and the tables are big, so it was a perfect place to sit comfortably and shake off travel fatigue. While looking around the counter I read the café's introduction, and the owner's special pride and expertise in coffee came through strongly, which raised my expectations even more.

How does After roast its beans?

They say After finds the best roasting point for each bean, roasts them separately, and then blends them in the best combination. Bringing out each bean's own character while finding a delicate balance and deep flavor between them showed the skill of a true roastery café. On one side, packages of single-origin drip beans roasted in-house were neatly displayed for sale 🙂

What did we order at After?

At After we picked a cold iced latte and a Hallabong chamomile drink (Hallabong is a Jeju citrus), and for dessert we ordered two salt breads and Udo peanut tiramisu. Among Ido-i-dong cafés, it's known as a dessert spot with high-quality bread and sweets as well as good coffee, and the looks alone were special, haha.

The drinks and desserts came out on a tray, a sight that makes you happy just looking at it. First, I picked up the golden-brown salt bread by hand and tore it apart along its layers, cute as can be, to taste it.

How does the salt bread at After taste?

The salt bread at After was crispy outside and soft inside, and the highlight was the bottom, which was crisp as if fried. The moment it hit my mouth, a rich, nutty butter aroma burst out, a textbook case of crispy-outside, moist-inside 👍👍 The bottom in particular had a properly crunchy texture, and every bite made me exclaim. It was the best.

Is the Udo peanut tiramisu very sweet?

The Udo peanut tiramisu at After comes in a clear cup, and it wasn't overly sweet, with the nutty flavor of Udo peanuts coming through. I scooped up a big spoonful of the dainty tiramisu, and the moment I took a bite I said "this is amazing," completely won over. It was a dessert of my life ❤️

It wasn't one of those common tiramisus that are just sweet. The nutty aroma of Jeju Udo peanuts lingered softly, and the cream melted smoothly in my mouth.

The balance of sweet and nutty was spot on, so addictive that I scraped up every last spoonful.

Is the iced latte at After good even if you don't know coffee?

The iced latte at After was nutty and rich enough that my husband, who always says he can't tell whether a latte is good, kept praising it. He's honestly someone who never knows if a latte tastes good. Then he took one cool sip and didn't hold back, saying the milk's nuttiness and the strong coffee aroma were really rich and delicious!

It was a premium iced latte, with roasting and blending so well matched that even someone who doesn't know coffee can notice the difference right away 💕

Hallabong chamomile tea

The Hallabong chamomile tea at After balanced the gentle sweetness of the fruit juice with chamomile fragrance, making it ideal as an after-meal drink. It was fresh yet warmly soothing to the stomach. On the trip, in a cozy, pleasant space with deeply flavored coffee and special desserts, I was able to rest completely.
