Yangjae Station pie shop, all 4 flavors tasted: Hodu Kkakki Brothers
In short
Hodu Kkakki Brothers (호두까끼형제) is a takeout-only handmade pie shop near Exit 4 of Yangjae Station, in Dogok-dong, Gangnam, Seoul. Hodu Kkakki Brothers says its handmade pies are sweetened with oligosaccharide syrup, honey and maple syrup instead of sugar, and the writer took home the Premium Assorted Pie set (8 pieces, 34,900 won on discount) and tried all four flavors. For a less-sweet dessert or a prettily packaged pie gift, Hodu Kkakki Brothers is worth the stop.

Hodu Kkakki Brothers (호두까끼형제) is a takeout-only handmade pie shop in Dogok-dong, near Yangjae Station. Last week my husband and I had Korean fine dining in Yangjae, and I picked up their handmade pies to take home for dessert.
I've been craving something sweet lately but didn't want to overdo it, so I looked for a pie shop that uses oligosaccharide, honey and maple syrup instead of sugar. The name is so cute too, Hodu Kkakki Brothers 🎀 They have branches in Yangjae and Bangbae, and everything is handmade. It's takeout only, so you can take pies and drinks home with you.

Where is Hodu Kkakki Brothers near Yangjae Station Exit 4?
It's a handmade walnut pie shop on the ground floor of a building close to Exit 4 ✔️ Models of the walnut pies and the packaging are displayed at the entrance, so you can have a look as you pass by before going in.
The entrance is a red door with a mysterious vibe ✨ It feels like a door out of Alice in Wonderland‼️ Such a moody entrance for Hodu Kkakki Brothers in Yangjae.
Inside Hodu Kkakki Brothers and its handmade pie range

Since it's a takeout shop, the inside is small and cozy. The pies sit in a display case, so you can see them and order directly.

There are lots of handmade pies, sorted by type.
- Signature walnut pie
- Original pecan pie
- Matcha cream pie
- Milk cream walnut pie
- Hazelnut cacao pie
- Macadamia cheese pie

The shop is also a registered harmful-organism pest-control managed space, so I felt at ease eating there. That makes these pies good for gifts too ✔️
What's on the Hodu Kkakki Brothers menu, and how much?

The menu includes whole pie set menus, and the signature pies are sold by the piece or as 10-piece whole pies. For drinks there's coffee, latte, ade and tea.

The set menus come in different combinations and cost less than buying separately. This day I ordered the Premium Mix Pie: 8 pieces for the discounted ₩34,900.

There are also Premium Mix Pie 2 and Premium Mix Pie 3 sets with other flavors, also at discounted prices.

They also had a limited-quantity Dubai crispy pie, ₩5,500 per piece. I used to love all things Dubai, so I was curious.
Premium Assorted Pie (₩34,900): packaging and what's inside

What I ordered was Premium Mix Pie set 1. The package design is so pretty and it's wrapped carefully, which makes it great for gifts.

They also tucked in a leaflet with storage instructions and an intro to each pie flavor, which I really liked.

According to the leaflet, these are special handmade pies 🥧 made at the best level of sweetness. They use organic flour and rice flour, handmade almond flour, New Zealand grass-fed butter, French fresh cream, natural honey, maple syrup and oligosaccharide, which made me like them even more.

When I opened it, the pies looked amazing! The Premium Assorted Pie has 2 macadamia cheese pies, 2 original pecan pies, 2 signature walnut pies and 2 hazelnut cacao pies.
That's 8 pieces in total, 2 each of four popular flavors, so it's a great set for trying a bit of everything.

They looked so delicious just sitting there. I usually have cake for dessert, so eating handmade pie after a long time made me excited!

There's even a cacao pie with chocolate, which I love, haha. So happy! The pecan pie looked incredibly appetizing too ✔️
How to store the handmade pies and enjoy them at their best

The pies taste better chilled after refrigerating. They keep up to 7 days in the fridge and up to 30 days in the freezer, they say. I was curious about all four flavors, so I took them out to try.
How did all four handmade pies taste?
Macadamia cheese pie
The macadamia cheese pie is topped generously with macadamia powder, so it was full of nutty flavor. If you like cheesecake, this one is right up your alley.
Signature walnut pie

The signature walnut pie is Hodu Kkakki Brothers' signature item. It has no sugar, so it was good to share with my baby, and with lots of walnuts the nutty flavor was the best.
Original pecan pie
Above all, the original pecan pie has no sugar, so it isn't too sweet and has just the right sweetness. It had a lovely chewy texture.
Hazelnut cacao pie

The hazelnut cacao pie was my favorite. Sweet chocolate flavor topped with hazelnuts made me happy, and it goes really well with coffee ☕️
I'm pregnant, so rather than a super sweet dessert, I liked that these pies are made with good ingredients instead of sugar and I could eat them with peace of mind. I'll pick some up whenever I pass through Yangjae.
