What kind of Korean BBQ restaurant is Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch?
Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch (고기꾼김춘배 숲길직영점) is a Hongdae Korean BBQ place where you can enjoy hanwoo (Korean beef) and Korean pork together while looking out at the green of Gyeongui Line Forest Park. I wanted tasty meat with a green view to welcome early summer, and this time I got to eat with the hydrangeas in bloom. This place is, believe it or not,
- A green view of Gyeongui Line Forest Park
- Staff who grill the meat for you
- A set that lets you enjoy hanwoo and pork at once
- Free corkage
- Dogs welcome
a spot where all five are possible! haha
Getting to Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch and parking
The restaurant is between Hongik Univ. Station and Sinchon, near Gyeongui Line Forest Park, about a 10-minute walk from Exit 9 of Hongik Univ. Station! The walk itself has that forest-path feel, so it's like going for a stroll 🌿
There are lots of cafés and select shops around, so even if you arrive a bit early there's plenty to browse. Note that the restaurant has no private parking lot, so I recommend public transport. If you drive, the Sinchon public parking lot is about a 5-minute walk away.
Is the atmosphere good for a date?
If you're looking for a hanwoo date spot in Hongdae, I think you'll love this place! The tables are spaced fairly wide, so it was easy to talk, and the whole place felt clean and comfortable.

From the window seats you can see all of Gyeongui Line Forest Park, and the mood was really lovely. Best of all, the staff grill the meat for you! I wasn't frantically busy grilling; I could chat with my husband and relax through the meal.

And here's a point meat lovers will like! Apart from drinks the restaurant sells, corkage is free, so you can bring wine or whiskey and enjoy it with the meat 🥂
What did the two of us order?
Here's what my husband and I ordered at Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch.
- Hanwoo/pork set for two (600g), ₩109,000 (pork neck + ribs + hanwoo of the day)
- Half-and-half naengmyeon (cold noodles), ₩7,000
- Kkakdugi fried rice (fried rice with radish kimchi), ₩8,000

Portion and contents of the hanwoo/pork set for two
The set for two comes with thick pork neck, ribs and the hanwoo of the day, so it's a really generous amount for two people. I was wowed by the look of the set the moment it arrived 😍 (*Gogikkun's biggest strength is that you can have hanwoo and pork in one sitting!)

Usually you agonize over pork belly or hanwoo, but at Gogikkun there's no need for that dilemma. The staff grill it for you, and their grilling skills were truly something else 👏

How did the pork neck and ribs taste?
The pork neck was crisp outside and moist inside, absolutely full of juice! A nutty flavor builds the more you chew, and I understood why it's the signature item.

And the ribs were tender with a rich meaty aroma 🥹 Eaten with minari (water dropwort), they got a fragrant note too, and my chopsticks kept going back, haha

Looking at it again, my mouth is watering ^_ㅠ

The kimchi was fried in the meat fat too, so sooo good

The lettuce was fresh too, so I made wraps and munched away, nom nom nom

To finish: half-and-half naengmyeon and kkakdugi fried rice
The half-and-half naengmyeon (₩7,000) lets you enjoy mul naengmyeon (cold broth noodles) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed noodles) at the same time, and personally the mul naengmyeon broth was totally my thing, haha. Even the icy slush was perfect! One bite after the meat and your mouth feels totally reset! And rolling meat up in the noodles? Need I say more 😂
I finished with the kkakdugi fried rice (₩8,000)!

The kkakdugi fried rice has a chewy texture and the nutty flavor was no joke. I was actually pretty full, but after one spoonful my chopsticks wouldn't stop..... Anyway, I worked out so hard, and I'm going home with all the weight back ^_ㅠ
