Chuncheon wine bar anniversary: octopus steak at Layout Chuncheon

Summer is already here! June is the perfect season for a trip, so I bet a lot of you are going on dates right now~ And I found a wine bar in Chuncheon with a really great mood and food that was sooo delicious.

I found out about Layout Chuncheon (레이아웃 춘천) through a recommendation from a teacher I work with, and this was my first visit! The mood and the food were both exactly my taste, so now I know a Chuncheon restaurant that's perfect for anniversary dates or blind dates.

Layout Chuncheon has more than 50 bottles of wine, plus a good range of non-alcoholic drinks and glasses of wine, so it's a Chuncheon wine bar that's easy to visit even if you don't drink.

Where is Layout Chuncheon, and how is the parking?

Layout Chuncheon is at 140 Jungangno, Building A, 1st floor, Chuncheon, across from the Chuncheon Public Health Center, so it should be very easy to find even on a first visit. There's a private parking lot behind the building, so you can come by car too.

I left my car at home because I was going to drink wine, but if you search 'Layout parking lot' (레이아웃 주차장) in T map, it's easy to find. Just note that you don't enter near the front entrance; you have to go all the way around through the back alley of the building.

What's the atmosphere like at Layout Chuncheon?

Walking in through the entrance, I loved the greenery vibe with lots of plants. There were tables by the entrance and a big space further inside too, and the place is really large.

The lighting was even dimmer inside, which made the mood better. With the quiet music on top, it was perfect for a Chuncheon date, a blind date or a get-together, and when I visited there were lots of couples who had made reservations~

They have a wide range of bottles and can give recommendations, so even wine beginners can use it comfortably.

They also have Heineken draft beer, so beer lovers can enjoy their food with a draft too.

Do you have to order alcohol in the evening?

In the evening Layout Chuncheon runs as a dining and wine bar, so you have to order an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink. You order the menu by table order.

My husband and I came for dinner on our wedding anniversary, and since we wanted to enjoy food with wine, we decided on a bottle.

Sparkling wine at Layout Chuncheon: Musa Cava Brut, ₩39,000

The bottle I picked at Layout Chuncheon was Musa Cava Brut (₩39,000). Among the reds, whites, rosés and sparklings, I chose from my favorite, sparkling~ Each wine has a description, and I went with Musa Cava Brut because it's said to go well with many kinds of food. They can also recommend wines, so it's worth asking for help.

They chilled it for us so we could drink it cold, and brought proper wine glasses too.

The moment I poured it, the glass filled with refreshing bubbles and it looked so cool that I couldn't wait to drink it, haha

I tried it before the food came out, and I loved how clean and not sweet it was. Many sparkling wines are on the sweet side and good as dessert wines, but Musa Cava Brut has little sugar, so it looked great for drinking with food.

What we ordered at Layout Chuncheon

It was our anniversary and we wanted good food, so we each chose what we wanted to eat. Every dish at Layout Chuncheon was plated so prettily that just looking at it made me smile, haha

Napoli margherita pizza, ₩21,000

They had margherita, my all-time favorite pizza, so I ordered it, and it looked delicious. Layout Chuncheon has pizza, pasta, steak and other meal dishes, plus light dishes that go well with drinks, so it's easy to order a variety.

Polpo & mashed potatoes (octopus steak), ₩28,000

When I searched before visiting, I was planning to have the flank steak~ but looking at the menu more closely, there was an octopus steak made with Geojedo stone octopus, the polpo & mashed potatoes! I love octopus and hadn't had an octopus dish in a while, so I ordered it. The plating was seriously classy.

Spicy vongole sulzzim pasta (wine-steamed clam pasta), ₩27,000

I like oil pastas, so I was going to order aglio e olio, but then I spotted the spicy vongole sulzzim pasta right below it! I prefer vongole anyway, and it said it serves 2, so I ordered it, and the look of it, loaded with clams, was so good.

Once all the dishes were out I took photos! Doesn't the food look absolutely amazing? haha

When you pick a place for a blind date or an anniversary meal, both mood and taste matter!! Layout Chuncheon is a place with a great mood, so it already passed as a date and blind date spot~ and now I was curious about the taste, so time to start eating, haha

How was the food at Layout Chuncheon?

The best thing at Layout Chuncheon was the polpo & mashed potatoes (octopus steak), and the vongole sulzzim pasta and the margherita pizza were satisfying too. First we clinked our wine glasses to whet our appetites, haha

I dug into the stone octopus I'd been wanting first, and the big octopus legs were totally plump and cute, haha

I cut it into bite-sized pieces and ate it with the mashed potatoes~ The chewy yet tender stone octopus with the smooth mashed potatoes was such a perfect match, so delicious! I hadn't expected much from this dish, so it made me really happy~

With food this good, the drinks just kept going down, haha

The spicy vongole sulzzim pasta has three kinds of clams, so picking out the clams is fun, and the oil pasta with the deep umami of the clams was totally delicious too. I'd nearly ordered aglio e olio and switched, and it was a total success~

I had pizza between bites of the other dishes~ and pizza is good any time, of course! I always miss the margherita I had at an original Napoli pizzeria, so I order it a lot, and my husband said the pizza was number one among everything, so good.

My number one pick is the octopus steak!! This one is a real treat. Please order it and try it~

The wine alongside the delicious food was a perfect combination too. The refreshing sparkling wine isn't sweet, so it went well with all the dishes.

Is Layout Chuncheon worth recommending for an anniversary?

We visited Layout Chuncheon for our wedding anniversary, and both the mood and the food passed!! We had a truly satisfying meal~

Wine by the glass is reasonably priced and there are non-alcoholic drinks too, so even people who don't like or don't drink alcohol can enjoy a meal in a place with a great mood.

My husband and I were so happy with our meal that we're definitely going back! If you're looking for an anniversary date spot in Chuncheon, or a get-together place with a good mood, I recommend Layout Chuncheon~
