Gyodae Station gimbap shop: no-wait takeout right after break, Halls
In short
Halls Gimbap Main Branch is a gimbap and dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken) snack shop near Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul. The writer arrived around 4:10 PM, just after the break time ended, and with no wait took out a cheese egg gimbap + dakgangjeong set (₩12,000) and a Spam gimbap + dakgangjeong set (₩11,000), drinking two cups of free bonito broth while waiting. A brief stop out front cost the writer a side mirror, but the mildly seasoned gimbap and addictive dakgangjeong make Halls Gimbap Main Branch a place worth returning to.

I was near Gyodae and remembered this gimbap place, so I went to pick up gimbap (seaweed rice rolls) for dinner at Halls Gimbap Main Branch (홀스김밥본점). If you used to love (5)to Gimbap, you'll love Halls near Gyodae Station too. But... I'll also tell you the story of how I smashed my side mirror while picking up gimbap, hahaha.

Where is Halls Gimbap Main Branch, and what are the hours and parking like?
Halls Gimbap Main Branch is at 90 Seochojungang-ro 22-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, 1F Unit 101, and it's open Monday to Saturday from 8 AM to 8 PM. Break time is 3 PM to 4 PM, and it's closed every Sunday. It's an easy walk from Gyodae Station, and at lunchtime it's busy with customers, with lots of takeout and delivery too.
- Takeout and delivery available
- Reservations available
- Parking available (not for many cars; it looked like room for 1–2)
The story of how I broke my mirror parking out front
Be careful: parking space in front of Halls Gimbap Main Branch isn't generous. I parked out front for a moment to pick up gimbap, then someone from the building asked me to move my car, and in my rush I backed out and... smashed my side mirror into a utility pole, hahaha. I had already ordered and I had to eat Halls gimbap, so I accepted reality and picked up the gimbap and left, hahahaha.

When should you go to avoid a wait at Halls Gimbap Main Branch?
If you go right after break time, around 4:10 PM, you can get takeout with no wait. I arrived about 4:10, just after break time, and luckily there was no wait, so ordering and pickup went quickly.

The dine-in seating is fairly spacious, and it's also a good place to pick up takeout. At lunchtime it's really crowded.

It used to be (the former) (5)to Gimbap Seocho branch, and now it's been Halls Gimbap in the same spot for 8 years! 🍙

How to order at Halls Gimbap Main Branch, and dakgangjeong set prices
At Halls Gimbap Main Branch you read the menu board first, then order at the kiosk. Read the menu carefully, then order at the kiosk!

For tonight's dinner takeout I ordered two set menus. Even one set per person is a very filling amount.
- Cheese egg gimbap + dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken) set ₩12,000
- Spam gimbap + dakgangjeong set ₩11,000
- Total ₩23,000

Bonito broth to sip while waiting for takeout
The bonito broth (katsuobushi stock) at Halls Gimbap Main Branch can't be taken away, but it's a free service for people eating in or waiting for takeout, haha. The broth has no added seasoning, so I ended up drinking 2 cups.

Cup ramyeon and drinks are sold too
Halls Gimbap Main Branch sells cup ramyeon (instant noodles), so you can buy some in the shop and eat it there. Gimbap's forever partner is ramyeon! A gimbap-dakgangjeong set with a cup of ramyeon would make either lunch or dinner feel properly satisfying.

I've never seen a restaurant with this many drink options! Lots of gimbap choices, lots of cup ramyeon, lots of drinks: a place that makes you excited.

How did the Halls gimbap-dakgangjeong set taste?
The Halls gimbap-dakgangjeong set is a hearty combination of gimbap and dakgangjeong, and overall the seasoning isn't strong, so it was easy to eat. My side mirror got hurt, but the gimbap arrived home safely!

Ta-da!!! The gimbap-dakgangjeong set lets you enjoy both gimbap and chicken, so it's a filling combo. It even looks so pretty.

It looks filling just by looking. Halls isn't only gimbap; you get dakgangjeong too, which makes it even more satisfying, and the seasoning overall isn't strong, so it's easy to eat.

Spam gimbap + dakgangjeong set
The Halls Spam gimbap + dakgangjeong set was my pick for my friend who loves Spam! The Spam inside is really thick, and if you like Spam, this menu will never let you down.

Cheese egg gimbap + dakgangjeong set
Halls cheese egg gimbap is totally my style. I just love the cheese and egg combination, but also the ingredients blend together without any one standing out, so I'd recommend it to people who like a mild, clean flavor.

The dakgangjeong is a real temptress
Halls dakgangjeong is a real temptress... It gave me that feeling of taking one bite of spicy ㄱㅊ Chicken and instantly going "huh, what is this?" Totally my style!!!! Gimbap is great, but I'd recommend it as a dakgangjeong spot too!!
If you're looking for a filling meal near Gyodae Station, Halls Gimbap Main Branch is a gimbap spot that works for lunch or dinner. Next time I'll try other menu items too (while watching out for my side mirror, hahaha).
