Today I want to introduce a chicken restaurant near Dolgoji Market that I visited after being drawn in by the savory smell of chicken. This time it was Hidongi Chicken, located right at the entrance of Dolgoji Market, so anyone passing through the market would probably notice it.
What stood out to me was the reasonable price, generous portions, and the crispy fried chicken, so I wanted to share it with anyone looking for a Dolgoji Station restaurant or a Seokgwan-dong restaurant.
Where is Hidongi Chicken Seokgwan Branch, and what are its hours?
Hidongi Chicken Seokgwan Branch is at 561 Hancheon-ro, 1st floor, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, right at the entrance of Dolgoji Market. It's open from 12:00 to 06:30, and I'd recommend checking on parking before visiting.

Hidongi Chicken is right at the entrance of Dolgoji Market. If you look for branch No. 3 near the market entrance, it's fairly easy to find. There's plenty of food inside the market, but once you catch the savory chicken smell drifting from the entrance, it's hard to just walk on by. I ended up naturally drawn in myself while passing through.
The sky-blue sign out front caught my eye — clean and cute, and it made the shop easy to spot even amid the market.
Hidongi Chicken prices and takeout discounts
Hidongi Chicken's crispy fried chicken is ₩18,000, while the seasoned chicken and soy sauce chicken are each ₩19,000. On top of that, there's a takeout discount of ₩3,000 off one chicken and ₩7,000 off two.
Hidongi Chicken's prices felt genuinely good value

What caught my attention first at Hidongi Chicken was, of course, the price. Crispy fried chicken at ₩18,000, seasoned chicken at ₩19,000, soy sauce chicken at ₩19,000 — considering how much a whole chicken costs these days, that's pretty easy on the wallet.
On top of that, there's a takeout discount too. Ordering one chicken for takeout knocks off ₩3,000, and two chickens knocks off ₩7,000, so getting it as takeout makes it feel even better value. That made me think this is a great Seokgwan-dong restaurant to visit when you want chicken at home. It's especially nice when eating with family or having a beer with friends, since the price doesn't feel like a burden.

Payment options were varied too. Naver Pay, Kakao Pay, Zero Pay and more are all available, making it convenient to pay when ordering takeout.
No dining room: Hidongi Chicken is takeout and delivery only
Hidongi Chicken Seokgwan Branch isn't a place you sit down and eat in — it runs on takeout and delivery. Cook time is about 15 minutes for bone-in chicken and about 10-15 minutes for boneless, so it's best to call ahead and order before you go.
A place run mainly on takeout and delivery

Unlike a typical chicken restaurant with tables to sit and eat at, Hidongi Chicken runs mainly on takeout and delivery. I also placed my order ahead of time before visiting that day. Cook time is around 15 minutes for bone-in chicken and around 10-15 minutes for boneless, so calling ahead and picking up seems like a smart approach.

They also run a lucky draw event for takeout customers, so picking up your chicken comes with a little extra fun. The owner was friendly, and the packaging was neat, which made a good first impression. I could see why this place has so many regulars who order takeout often.
What the crispy fried chicken tastes like, and what comes with it
What I ordered that day was one whole crispy fried chicken from Hidongi Chicken. It came with mustard sauce, salt, and pickled radish, and the batter was thin yet crispy.
Crispy fried chicken with the crunch fully intact

What I ordered that day was the crispy fried chicken.

Opening the package, I found the chicken neatly packed in wrapping with a cute Hidongi character on it.

It also came with mustard sauce, salt, and pickled radish, so the basic setup felt well thought out. What satisfied me most while eating was the crispy texture of the batter. It wasn't too thick but fried just right, crunchy enough that you could hear it with each bite. Rather than feeling heavy or greasy from long frying, it had a mild, savory quality.

So rather than losing interest after a few pieces, I kept reaching for more of this fried chicken.
How much chicken do you get for 18,000 won?
One whole chicken from Hidongi Chicken is quite a lot for an adult man to eat alone, and it worked well shared among several people. The drumsticks were nicely meaty, crispy outside and juicy inside.
Plenty of meat, and juicy too!

The chicken itself was a decent size. One whole chicken felt like quite a lot for an adult man to eat alone, and it was a good amount to share among several people too. The drumsticks in particular had a satisfying amount of meat on them.

Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside — that texture was personally my favorite part.
Even the leaner parts, like the breast meat, didn't feel dry, and there was enough juiciness left that it was tasty even just dipped lightly in salt. Paired with the mustard sauce, it took on a tangy, zippy edge, and the pickled radish cut through any greasiness nicely. Personally, crispy batter dipped in salt was the combination I liked best. Add a cold can of beer, and it's more than satisfying as chimaek at home.
Why Dolgoji Market makes Hidongi Chicken an easy stop
Hidongi Chicken Seokgwan Branch sits right at the entrance of Dolgoji Market, so you can grocery shop and pick up chicken in one trip. Visiting in person for takeout, rather than ordering delivery, also gets you the discount.
A Seokgwan-dong restaurant worth pairing with a visit to Dolgoji Market

I think another strength of Hidongi Chicken is its location. Being right at the entrance of Dolgoji Market makes it convenient to grab takeout after shopping, or to pick up some quick market snacks and enjoy them at home alongside Hidongi Chicken.

If you're looking for a Dolgoji Station restaurant, this is a good one to pair with a market visit. The prices aren't a burden, and with the takeout discount, I'd recommend visiting in person for pickup rather than ordering delivery.

Searching for Seokgwan-dong restaurants brings up all kinds of options, but when it comes to a menu you can enjoy comfortably with family or friends, chicken is hard to beat. Hidongi Chicken isn't a place meant for lingering in a dining room — it's a chicken shop built for enjoying comfortably at home through takeout or delivery.
I'd especially recommend it to these people.

Is Hidongi Chicken Seokgwan Branch worth it?
Hidongi Chicken wasn't a flashy chicken restaurant so much as a place charming for its fair prices and solid, no-frills fried chicken. The crispy fried chicken in particular had a great texture — crispy outside, juicy inside — and the portion of meat was satisfying too.
Above all, getting a takeout discount on top of the ₩18,000 price made it feel like really good value. The location at the entrance of Dolgoji Market is also convenient, letting you pick up takeout after a market visit, and it's a good spot for enjoying chicken with family or a simple chimaek at home.
