Gamjatang spot in Gimhae Yulha: Hanu daechang ppyeojjim for two

In short

Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch is a gamjatang (pork bone stew) restaurant in its own building on Yulha 7-ro in Gimhae, near Lotte Premium Outlets Gimhae and Gimhae Water Park. Two adults ordered the Hanu daechang ppyeojjim (braised pork bones with Korean beef large intestine) in the milder version, gondre egg pot rice (pot rice with Korean thistle and egg) and plain pot rice for ₩50,000 in total, then used the self-bar's gamjatang broth and unlimited add-ins to turn the leftovers into gamjatang. Verdict: the portions at Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang were so generous that grilled bones were left over, and the Hanu daechang was the standout.

Where is Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch?

Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang (뼈대있는해장국감자탕) Yulha Branch is at 40 Yulha 7-ro, Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam, on the 1st floor, near Lotte Premium Outlets Gimhae and Gimhae Water Park. Parking is available, and they say it's one of the Gimhae Yulha restaurants many people love! I had heard great things and always wanted to visit, and I finally did!

How big is the dining room? Family meals and group gatherings

The restaurant is a standalone building, so it has a big interior with an open, airy feel. If you're looking for a place to eat with kids in Gimhae Yulha, or a spot for a family meal, it seemed just right.

There are lots of tables, in all kinds of setups from 4-person to 6-person seating. Company dinners, gatherings and big family get-togethers all looked easy here.

If you visit, you have to try the pot rice (solbap)! You can watch it being cooked right in front of you, which caught my eye.

What's at the free self-bar?

At the self-bar you can get two flavors of slush plus glass noodles, sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes), jorangi tteok (small rice cakes) and ramen sari (add-in noodles), all free and unlimited. The self-bar is another special service of this place!

glass noodles, sujebi, jorangi tteok and ramen sari are all free and unlimited too, which made it extra fun. We had the bone jjim (braised bones), and after finishing it, I added the gamjatang broth from the self-bar and the sari, and it felt like starting a whole new gamjatang meal!

What we ordered for two and the prices

Two adults ordered Hanu daechang bone jjim, gondre egg pot rice, pot rice and a Tams Zero, and the total came to ₩50,000.

Basic side dishes at Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch

You could tell the basic side dishes were made with care, with just the essential ones. The kimchi was especially good, so I kept eating it!

How spicy is the milder Hanu daechang ppyeojjim?

You can choose between mild and spicy for the Hanu daechang bone jjim, and we ordered mild. I handle spice well so it wasn't very spicy to me, but I think people who can't eat spicy food would find it hot!

The bone jjim came out soon after ordering, already fully cooked, so you can eat right away! It arrives cooked through and seasoned just right, so I loved being able to taste the smoky, fire-grilled bones without waiting.

The pot rice was ready quickly too. It took less than 10 minutes from ordering until all the dishes were out, and I loved that the food came out fast overall!

What is the gondre egg pot rice like?

The gondre egg pot rice (₩4,000) at Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch is packed with gondre (thistle greens) and topped with a fried egg. Personally it was totally my taste..!!!! If you don't like gondre, order the plain pot rice instead. It's a real treat 😍

Is the Hanu daechang ppyeojjim enough for two adults?

I was surprised that Hanu daechang bone jjim with two pot rices is a generous portion that fills two adults completely. Add nurungji tea (scorched rice water) from the pot rice later, and sari with gamjatang broth after finishing the bone jjim, and you're totally stuffed.

It was a combination of fire-grilled bones, slightly spicy seasoning, and plump daechang.

Sari and potatoes brought from the self-bar
Bowl of self-bar sari

The sari I brought from the self-bar, however I liked! They even had potatoes, which made me so happy.

I scooped the pot rice into a separate bowl, poured hot water into the pot for nurungji.. pure heaven. I really love nurungji!! It was so good that I scraped up every last bit.

They also give you seasoned sauce and sesame oil to mix into the gondre pot rice when you scoop it out, and mixing them in is pure heaven•• !! That alone makes a bowl of rice vanish in no time.

Pork bone size and how the Hanu daechang tastes

See how big the grilled bones of the Hanu daechang bone jjim are? The portion was so large that we ended up leaving some of the bones.. It was really generous and a great deal!

And the Hanu daechang was the real knockout! Wow.. see how plump it is? The thickness is no joke, and it just melts away in your mouth! Mmm, this was a treat too.

Finishing the ppyeojjim with gamjatang broth

After finishing the bone jjim, I added the gamjatang broth from the self-bar and some sari and enjoyed it to the fullest! The broth was rich and savory with no gamey smell at all, so good 😍😍

Is Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch worth it?

I went to this Gimhae Yulha gamjatang spot on word of mouth, and it really was as satisfying as I'd heard. The interior is spacious, so it suits all kinds of gatherings, and the prices are easy on the wallet. From the unlimited sari to the slush at the self-bar, it was a really full experience, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good restaurant in Gimhae Yulha!
