Gimbap (seaweed rice rolls) is honestly one of my favorite Korean foods!! While hunting for a great gimbap place near Gyodae Station, I'd been dying to try Halls Gimbap Main Branch (홀스김밥 본점). It's super famous as a Gyodae Station gimbap spot, apparently? When I visited, there were so many dine-in customers plus takeout and delivery orders that I was shocked! I felt like everyone knew about it except me.. Finally made it to Halls Gimbap Main Branch!!!
Where is Halls Gimbap Main Branch, and does it have a terrace?
Halls Gimbap Main Branch is at 90 Seochojungang-ro 22-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, not far from Gyodae Station, and parking is available too. It's already loved by a lot of people, a best-of-the-best spot that everyone knew about except me..!!
I liked that you can also eat outside on the terrace on nice days. Korea is so hot these days that lunchtime is tough, but on a cool evening it's perfect for a romantic little meal of gimbap with tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) or ramyeon at Halls.
It seems it used to run as a different gimbap shop and recently changed its name to Halls Gimbap!
Inside Halls Gimbap Main Branch: is it okay for eating alone?
The inside isn't big, but there are table seats set up for solo diners, so it really lives up to being a Gyodae Station spot for eating alone. It has a warm, comfortable feel that shows how much love it's gotten, and the tidy interior looks perfect for a good meal of gimbap, tteokbokki and ramyeon.

The great thing about Halls Gimbap Main Branch is that half-and-half gimbap is possible! Isn't that amazing? The half-and-half rolls are generous in portion and the price is good too, so it's a combo you can't not order!
Free katsuobushi broth and name stickers on every menu item
I was amazed that Halls Gimbap Main Branch even offers free katsuobushi (dried bonito flake) broth! I took my order to go so I couldn't have any, but I'll definitely try it next time.
Each takeout roll had a name sticker on it so I wouldn't mix up what I ordered, and I was so touched!!! 🫶🏻♥️♥️
How does it taste to someone who has done a nationwide gimbap tour?
Halls Gimbap is easily in my top 5 of all the gimbap I've ever eaten!!!! It was really delicious. I was once so into gimbap that I went on a nationwide gimbap tour, mind you... and it's been ages since I found a truly proper gimbap place!!
I'd strongly recommend the konjac gimbap at Halls Gimbap Main Branch to anyone on a diet, no question. It was so, so good that I'm going to stop by Halls every single time I come up to Seoul!
The fillings are really packed, and all the ingredients are fresh and clean. Prices at gimbap shops have gone up so much lately that many places skimp on ingredients, so finding a place like this really touched me! I hear the nurungji (scorched rice) tteokbokki at Halls is good too, and I'm determined to order that next time.
Packing this up for a picnic would be so romantic, right? Wow, a gimbap shop this good was in Gyodae all along! I should have come sooner when people around me kept recommending Halls!!
