Dongtan hotpot sauce bar: 3 sauce combos and gwabaro at Lao Chongqing

Lao Chongqing Hotpot is an authentic Chongqing-style hotpot restaurant in the Paragon building on Dongtanbanseok-ro in Bansong-dong, Dongtan (Hwaseong, Gyeonggi). The order was a half-and-half pot of classic Chongqing broth and tomato broth at 14,000 won each, plus thin-sliced beef brisket, a four-kind vegetable platter, egg noodles, fried tofu rolls and gwabaro (sweet and sour crispy pork) at 15,900 won, with three sauces mixed at the 6,000-won sauce bar: Gunhui sauce, Lee Young-ji sauce and a soy–black vinegar sauce. Chili sauce paired best with the tomato broth, while the soy-vinegar sauce suited the mala broth.

Brewers Coffee Cheonan Sinbu Branch is a baked goods dessert café in the middle of the Sinbu-dong food street in Cheonan, Chungnam. On a weekday visit at 6pm, six pieces went into a gift box — two lemon madeleines (₩3,300 each), a pecan espresso madeleine (₩3,500), two plain financiers (₩3,000 each) and a salted chocolate financier (₩3,500), plus ₩2,000 for the box. Several flavors were sold out by evening, but the remaining lineup at Brewers Coffee still looked and tasted like a gift worth handing over.
