Danppang Bakery is a garlic bread bakery inside Gugyeong Market in Danyang, Chungbuk. Two boxes of the four-flavor set at 14,000 won each went home with us — one shared with family, one taken to the office for coworkers — and the sweet potato custard garlic bread was the best of the four. Lines at Danppang Bakery run long, so it pays to browse the market first and drop by without rushing.
Danyang Heukmaneul Nurungji Dakgangjeong is a dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken) shop at Gugyeong Market in Danyang, Chungbuk, and the busiest stall in the market. On a Sunday afternoon visit with friends, the blogger tried the samples and then packed up the black garlic double-flavor dakgangjeong sold only in Danyang plus a set of two black garlic makgeolli bottles, and the owner handed out freshly made nurungji (crisped rice) during the 20-30 minute wait. For a Danyang trip souvenir, this dakgangjeong box beats the usual snacks or bread.
