Jongno 3-ga bakery: walnut bread eaten on the way home, Munhwa Bakery

Munhwa Bakery (문화제빵) is a hanok-style bakery on Donhwamun-ro in Jongno, Seoul, between Jongno 3-ga Station and Ikseon-dong. The writer took home an onion bagel (6,000 won), walnut bread (3,500 won) and squid ink condensed milk bread (4,500 won), and the walnut bread, eaten before even getting home, was the biggest surprise with its nutty, crunchy bite. Munhwa Bakery sells only bread baked that day and donates the leftovers, making it a great place to pick up bread on an Ikseon-dong stroll.

Quiet Gangnam café: vitamin beet and banana tiramisu, Selected Nicks

Selected Nicks (셀렉티드닉스) is a large café in Gangnam, Seoul, on a side street a 3–5 minute walk from Gangnam Station Exit 4, with floors running from the basement to the rooftop. The writer ordered banana and raspberry tiramisu, a cookie brownie, an Americano, a yuzu peach green tea, a vitamin beet drink and a tropical mango ade, and spent a quiet stretch there; the rooftop was closed during the visit. Verdict: the banana tiramisu is the must-try at Selected Nicks.

With easy transit, parking, a calm mood and comfortable space, Izakaya Wakoan Suseong Beomeo Branch is worth recommending to anyone looking for a quiet place to eat.
