How long does it take to get from Hayang Station to Sonsi Sushi?

If you catch the traffic lights right, it's a 2-3 minute walk from Hayang Station. It's practically across the street. I went around 7 p.m. on a weekday and the place was packed.

Seating at Sonsi Sushi Hayang branch

Inside there are 2 four-person tables, 3 two-person tables and 2 bar seats for two. It was so crowded that I kept putting off taking interior photos, and this one is from when I was leaving after eating. There were guests on the right side, so I couldn't get a proper shot of the interior, sorry :(

How does parking work?

The area is very busy, so there's no dedicated parking lot, but parking fees are supported, so keep that in mind! We parked at Hayang Station and walked over.

House-made soy sauce and chili sauce with mill-pressed sesame oil at Sonsi Sushi

Soy sauce, chili sauce and sesame oil, all made in-house

Sonsi Sushi uses only house-made sauces, from the soy sauce to the chili vinegar sauce (chojang). Even the sesame oil is from a traditional oil mill! You know sesame oil like that tastes better than what you get at a regular supermarket, right? At Sonsi Sushi in Gyeongsan, they use good stuff even for these little things. Soy sauce, chili sauce, sesame oil: all clean and good.

Table at Sonsi Sushi filled with sushi and hoedeopbap

The table was full, but I was honestly so hungry that day that this isn't the end, haha. There's more, haha.

Table with aged soy katsudon and shrimp tempura added

How were the aged soy katsudon and shrimp tempura?

The aged soy katsudon and shrimp tempura came out too. The shrimp tempura is included in the value set, and the aged soy katsudon was ordered separately as an à la carte item.

Aged soy katsudon at Sonsi Sushi, single order

It was my first time trying the katsudon at Sonsi Sushi, and the pork cutlet is really hearty, tender and delicious. I thought it was only famous for sushi near Hayang Station, but the pork cutlet is really good too.

The shrimp tempura on the katsudon was perfectly crispy outside and juicy inside! Without a doubt a Gyeongsan favorite.

I ordered a crazy amount, right? The place was full around us, and people were looking over as if I'd ordered too much, which was a little embarrassing...

Extra à la carte sushi ordered at Sonsi Sushi

Extra orders: kimchi flounder and ankimo futomaki

But I ordered more. Hehehe, the sushi is just unbelievably good. If you're looking for sushi in Hayang or a good place in Gyeongsan, please, please just try Sonsi Sushi once.

Ankimo futomaki, single order at Sonsi Sushi

I was full, but the à la carte ankimo futomaki made the extra order worth it. I opened wide and ate it in one bite. The rich, nutty flavor of ankimo that fills your whole mouth! ₩3,000 may feel a little steep, but I was totally satisfied! I ate until I was stuffed and it was great. I recommend it as a meal spot near Hayang Station.
