Where is Nampo in Gyodong, Daegu, and when should you go?

Nampo (남포) is a clam grill restaurant at 238 Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu, behind Lemon City Officetel in Gyodong. I visited with a Naver reservation. The evenings have been getting cooler, which is perfect weather for eating outside, and I kept craving a patio meal (yajang, an outdoor drinking-food spot). So today I'm introducing Nampo, a tasty Daegu clam grill that is super easy to reach in Gyodong.

It's only a short walk from Jungangno, so we got there in no time.

Nampo's patio and indoor seating

Nampo has both an outdoor patio and indoor seating. People were eating out on the patio, and the mood was great.

The inside is neat and stylishly set up too! We ate outside, but eating indoors next time would be nice as well!

What should two people order at Nampo, and how much?

The two of us ordered the clam grill for 2–3 people, plus seafood ramyeon and pen shell risotto as extras. This is the menu, and there are so many tasty-looking dishes that, even though we didn't drink, I bet it would be amazing with alcohol too.

Nampo's free starters: clam soup and pork cutlet

At the start, Nampo serves clam soup and pork cutlet as free starters. Starters! And the quality? I've never seen starters this good.

You put things into the clam soup and boil them like shabu-shabu, and at the end you add kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) too. Is it really okay for free starters to be this generous?

When I visited, Nampo was also running a Naver receipt review event: write a review and you get a mini abalone porridge! What a great review perk, right?

What comes in Nampo's ₩59,000 clam grill for 2–3 people?

The clam grill for 2–3 people is ₩59,000, and even though it isn't a set menu, basic seafood like abalone and shrimp comes along with it. Wow, can you see how generous it is? I didn't order a set, so I figured no extra seafood would come, but it did!!

The staff explained how to grill everything at every table and helped with the prep, so I felt the service was really good. They also said they receive that day's clams and seafood every morning! And the clam grill was very tasty, just as you'd hope.

Nampo pen shell risotto, ₩12,000: my boyfriend's top pick

The pen shell risotto is ₩12,000, and it was a surprisingly delicious extra. I ordered it unsure what pen shell risotto would taste like, but it had a tasty flavor you don't find often. My boyfriend said it was the best thing of the night and wanted to order another, haha

Nampo spicy seafood ramyeon, ₩6,000

The spicy seafood ramyeon is ₩6,000, and it's packed with seafood so the broth is refreshing. You can't have a clam grill without seafood ramyeon. It's foolproof, and with so much seafood inside, the broth was really clean and refreshing.

The two of us ate until we were stuffed, hehe. My boyfriend first wanted to order the clam grill for 3–4 people, and if we had, we'd have been too full to walk home.

Is Nampo good for dates and group meals?

I recommend Nampo for a date because it's easy to get to and has a lovely atmosphere! There are plenty of tables for bigger groups, and the dishes are the kind everyone from kids to grandparents likes, with no hit-or-miss items, so I think it would be great for gatherings too!
