We were all trying to figure out where the whole family should go this time when we found a Gumi restaurant specializing in hanjeongsik (Korean set meals) that really hit the spot!
That's Irojeong, a Gumi restaurant packed with hearty nourishing dishes and thoughtful service. With its clean, spacious dining room and a great playroom restaurant, it's a good spot to visit with parents too — let's take a look at our Irojeong family outing.

Parking is always the first thing I check when picking a restaurant, and the moment we arrived at Irojeong we were already relaxed — the lot is huge, easily fitting 60-plus cars.

Walking into Irojeong, there's not just an open hall with tables but also private rooms you can use separately. From the entrance to the seating to the restrooms, everything is carefully designed for wheelchair access, so it's a great place to bring along elderly parents.
The playroom restaurant at Irojeong, for families with kids
Since this was a whole-family gathering, we needed somewhere the kids could run around, and Irojeong's clean, spacious playroom restaurant delivered. The kids played safely and happily in the playroom while the adults sat comfortably, chatted, and focused on the meal.
Irojeong's menu and what our family ordered
Located near Geumosan, Irojeong has such a wide range of dishes that everyone in the family, young or old, can find something to love! From loach soup — clean and savory with no fishy taste, simmered in a deep, rich sanghwang mushroom broth — to hearty nourishing dishes perfect for enjoying with parents, the menu was pretty much perfect.

Irojeong's self-serve bar has unlimited extra side dishes plus fresh watermelon and rice, all free to help yourself to — such a generous touch.
How is the suyuk (boiled pork) that comes with the set?
The suyuk (boiled pork) included in the set had absolutely no gamey smell or off flavor, and it was so soft and moist it practically melted in your mouth — we couldn't stop praising it while eating with our parents, really hearty and satisfying.
Sanghwang mushroom loach soup with no fishy taste
Irojeong's signature sanghwang loach soup combined a deep, rich sanghwang mushroom broth with savory loach for a truly full-bodied soup!
There was no fishy taste at all, just a savory yet clean flavor, so even people trying loach soup for the first time could enjoy it without hesitation.
Grilled mackerel that kids can eat easily
The grilled mackerel we tried was browned to a lovely golden color and caught the eye right away — crispy on the outside, moist and tender inside, an absolute rice thief piled on top of the turmeric rice that came with it.
Behind that crispy texture came a savory richness and a light, clean flavor that had the kids eating it right up.
The whole-octopus seafood pancake at Irojeong
And the octopus pancake we tried for the first time here had a whole octopus tucked inside, chewy and giving an amazing bite.
The combination of the golden, crispy pancake and the springy octopus was beyond what we imagined — a real delicacy that kept drawing our chopsticks back throughout the meal.
The free cafeteria to finish the meal
After the meal, we didn't even have to move — we just headed to the free cafeteria set up inside the restaurant.
From cool iced Americano to sweet sujeonggwa (cinnamon-ginger punch) and sweet pumpkin sikhye, plus crunchy nut-and-seed brittle — there was a whole spread of desserts. Between the food quality and the thoughtful service, there wasn't a single thing missing from this perfect family outing.
