The place I went to when I needed a fiery hangover cure was Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang, Nohyeong branch, in Jeju's Nohyeong-dong. I'd had a heavy night of drinking the evening before and had booked a place to stay near Jeju Airport in Nohyeong-dong, so I was thinking, ugh, I really need something spicy and delicious. I searched for good restaurants in Nohyeong-dong and this place caught my eye.

Nohyeong-dong is near Jeju Airport, so lots of people like me stay there on their first or last night, which means there are tons of great restaurants around. Among them, Deureomtong stands out for its visuals — it's a great spot for bloggers to take photos too.

Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang, Nohyeong branch, has a very spacious dining room, so there were lots of group customers. Wow, I walked in and the restaurant was really huge. Jeju is a tourist area with a lot of small restaurants, but Deureomtong is a genuinely massive place in Nohyeong-dong.

There really were a lot of group customers. Plenty of foreign visitors too — since it's a popular spot near Jeju Airport, it seemed like foreign guests mostly ordered the chicken kalguksu (chicken noodle soup). We were tourists too, but if locals are looking for a family dinner spot or a place for a group meal or drinks in Nohyeong-dong, this feels perfect.

Self-serve bar and unlimited ramyeon noodles before 2pm

Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang, Nohyeong branch, has a self-serve banchan (side dish) bar, and if you visit before 2pm, the ramyeon noodle add-on is unlimited. There's a self-serve station set up on one side of the restaurant where you can grab more side dishes if you run out ^-^♡

There was also a promotion before 2pm where you can get unlimited ramyeon noodle add-ons. Adding ramyeon noodles to dakdoritang is genuinely delicious, ㅜㅜ but I wanted to save room for the fried rice, so I skipped it.

Right before the register, there was even a spot selling snacks!!

They even had a restroom inside the restaurant, which was so convenient.

True to being a dakdoritang specialty restaurant, the menu at Deureomtong is centered on dakdoritang, with dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) and chicken kalguksu for kids or anyone who can't handle spicy food. If you're looking for a great dakdoritang spot in Jeju, definitely visit Deureomtong in Nohyeong-dong. Wow, the visuals are great and the taste is even better.

We ordered the signature pot-lid dakdoritang for two, rolled omelet, and cheese fried rice for one.

The pot-lid dakdoritang for two comes out piled high with chicken and potatoes on a big pot lid set over a drum barrel, and it was spicy enough to be the perfect hangover food. Can you see it? 👍 The visuals are seriously wild, right? Do you get the scale of this thing? No, seriously, why can't photos capture how enormous this is?

It's genuinely huge!! A pot lid heated red-hot over a big drum barrel, packed with domestic Korean chicken and potatoes in dakdoritang. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

I was dying for a drink, but this was a hangover meal ㅜ I'd gone wild the night before, so today I needed to recover. If you're looking for a bar in Nohyeong-dong or a spot for a group dinner there, go here. I seriously recommend this as a top group-dinner restaurant in Jeju. It's so spicy and so delicious.

Seriously, why is Jeju chicken so tender and delicious? I think it's even better than chicken from the mainland. Mashing the potatoes into the broth is absolutely heavenly. Genuinely spicy and delicious. We finished this entire huge portion. Can you tell how good it must have been?

What was hilarious was that all the foreign guests were eating the white chicken kalguksu, but when we ordered the bright red dakdoritang, everyone was staring at us. The visuals are just that striking. It was genuinely so funny ㅋㅋ

For kids: the thick rolled omelet

If you're with a kid who can't eat spicy food, order the rolled omelet at Deureomtong. I asked my kid if they wanted the kalguksu, and they said they'd rather have rolled omelet with rice, so we ordered it — and the portion was massive too.

It was so big we had leftovers ㅜㅜ such a waste~~ The rolled omelet also looked amazing — I want to bring a foreign friend here.

Finishing up with heart-shaped cheese fried rice

We were about to burst, but we finished the meal at Deureomtong with cheese fried rice for one. This is a place famous for its visuals in Jeju, right? Not ordering the fried rice here would be a crime. The broth gets richer the longer it simmers, reaching its peak by this point. It doesn't get better than this.

Here comes the cheese fried rice. What's this, even shaped into a heart — this place really loves its customers. We were so full, but we genuinely finished the whole pot. It's been a while since I ate this much.
