Tteokmama Cheongju Gaesin Branch is a rice cake and hangwa (traditional Korean sweets) shop on Bokdae-ro in Seowon-gu, Cheongju. On a weekend morning the writer and her children picked songpyeon (stuffed half-moon rice cakes) for 4,000 won, baekseolgi (steamed rice cake) at 2,000 won each, patsirutteok (red bean layer cake) at 1,800 won, mini chocolate injeolmi for 4,000 won and Dubai chocolate chapssaltteok for 4,000 won, and the whole basket came to under 20,000 won. Tteokmama also makes custom rice cakes for first birthdays, 100-day celebrations and wedding or funeral return gifts, so one stop covers family snacks and event orders alike.
