The broth is Uiseong Hanu beef bone broth simmered with herbal medicine ingredients and vegetables, then aged, and the fresh noodles are made the moment you order. Downtown Burger Shinsegae Department Store Cheonan-Asan is a handmade burger shop on the 4th floor of Building B at Shinsegae Department Store in Sinbu-dong, Cheonan. It is the first combined store in the Chungcheong region run together with Clap Pizza. On a weekend family outing, the writer ordered the new Bulgogi Smash Burger, the Classic Cheese Burger and a salad, upgrading to sets for 4,900 won extra, and the crispy bulgogi patty with bulgogi mayo stood out. For a hearty burger that suits Korean tastes while shopping, Downtown Burger is a satisfying choice.
Brewers Coffee Cheonan Sinbu Branch is a café in the Sinbu-dong food alley in Cheonan, Chungnam, known for French-style baked sweets made fresh every morning. The writer drank an iced Americano at Brewers Coffee and took home a butter rice cake financier and a canelé; the butter rice cake financier is crisp outside and chewy like rice cake inside, a taste that keeps coming back to mind. The large parking lot, the outdoor space opening straight off the indoor seating and the owner's cat made Small Town Coffee an easy place to relax with a kid. Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Yuryang Direct Branch is a spicy stir-fried baby octopus (jjukkumi) restaurant near Taejosan in Yuryang-dong, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan. After a lunchtime wait, the writer had the jjukkumi stir-fry set with perilla noodle soup and rice and loved how the smoky, spicy baby octopus paired with the nutty perilla broth. With a free private room for up to 30, group seating for 70 and a large parking lot, Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Yuryang Direct Branch is a solid pick for company dinners and family gatherings.
Bumvecker Cheonan Dujeong is a large pretzel brunch café in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan, right next to Buseong Elementary School. The writer ordered the signature Songtan budae-jjigae, with a broth simmered for a full day, plenty of ham and sausage, and unlimited ramyeon noodles and rice. Booking Cheongwon Restaurant on Naver skips the wait, and the Naver notification coupon makes it a filling, good-value meal in Dujeong-dong.
Huni Gejang Cheonan Main Branch (훈이꽃게장 천안본점) is a Korean restaurant specializing in soy-marinated and spicy raw crab, at the entrance to the Yuryang-dong food street in Cheonan, Chungnam. The writer's family, including a young child, ordered the crab set meal for ₩25,000, and the child ate comfortably thanks to ₩100 kids' rice with seaweed soup, seasoned laver and steamed egg. With soy crab that isn't salty and a large parking lot, Huni Gejang made a satisfying spot for a family meal with kids.
