My 31st escape room ever!! I visited Cube Escape Hongdae Branch, an escape room café in Hongdae. This was my second visit — I had so much fun last time that I came back for more^_^

Where is Cube Escape Hongdae Branch, and what's the waiting area like?

Cube Escape Hongdae Branch is near Hongik University Station, so it was super easy to get to. You just need to arrive up to 10 minutes before your reserved time, and I showed up right on schedule! Heading up to the 4th floor of the building brings you to Cube Escape, and the moment I walked in, the AC felt amazing…🩵 In summer, an indoor escape room date is a must ㅎㅅㅎ

There were about 5 waiting tables, and slippers were provided for anyone wearing uncomfortable shoes (nice touch🫶🏻).

This time I picked the theme DELIVER. Here's DELiVER's story.

A simple delivery job introduced to you by a friend by chance — the one difference from other deliveries is the customer's pay! It's a job full of question marks, but the fat wallet silenced your doubts. Then one evening, a text came from a coworker friend: 'Don't be late tomorrow morning! We're making big money tomorrow!' Tossing and turning all night thinking about the big money, by the time you woke up you were already well past the agreed time. The agreed location was an abandoned waste warehouse. The moment you step into the designated office, a nose-stinging stench and a horrifying sight unfold.

How many themes does Cube Escape Hongdae Branch have?

Cube Escape Hongdae Branch has 8 themes total: Pyramid's Secret, Hansel and Gretel, Towering, Gestapo, Monkey House, Organ Trafficking, DELiVER, and Romeo Point — such a huge variety!!

Last time I did Towering, a disaster-genre theme, and I escaped successfully!! It was so much fun. It's about being trapped in an elevator — highly recommend Towering!

How hard is DELiVER? A lock-heavy theme and a failed escape

DELiVER at Cube Escape Hongdae Branch had tons of locks and demanded sharp observation — a pretty difficult theme, and the result was: escape failed!! ❌ (no spoilers) We put our bags away, got the staff briefing, and the escape room began!!!

Ugh ㅠㅠ after eating, my focus dropped and the clues just weren't jumping out at me. You really need good observation skills here!! Looking carefully at everything matters ㅎㅎ Could you even escape this with no hints? It's quite hard, and there are so many locks that solving one puzzle just leads to another puzzle ㅋㅋ I really solved a ton of stuff before coming out.

The atmosphere is a bit eerie with spooky background music, but you're so busy solving puzzles you barely notice it ㅋㅋㅋ Highly recommend for anyone who loves solving puzzles!! ㅎㅎ Failing the escape was such a bummer🥹
