Rice paper-wrapped fish kaoyu, mild spice, at Bantiannyao in Daejeon
Bantiannyao Kaoyu Daejeon Branch is a Chinese-style fish hot pot restaurant on the 2nd floor behind Galleria Timeworld in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon. We ordered the qinghuajiao kaoyu with ningbo fish, mild spice level, plus a vegetable-mushroom side platter and self-bar for two — wrapping the fish in rice paper turned out to be the best combo. Even a companion who can't handle mala spice found it just tingly, not overwhelming.
