Daejeon Korean restaurant for galbitang: Hanppong in Dunsan-dong

Hanppong is a Korean restaurant near the academy district in Dunsan-dong, Seo, Daejeon, serving gamjatang as well as galbitang and doganitang. I had the latter two at weekday lunch and liked the clear broth, tender beef, and generous doganitang fillings; the spacious tables and high chairs also made it seem suitable for family meals.

Daejeon Korean restaurant for octopus lunch: Chongil Nakji

Chongil Nakji, Tanbang branch (촌길낙지 탄방점), is a Korean restaurant specializing in octopus dishes in Tanbang-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon. My husband and I shared the small special nakji bokkeum (octopus stir-fry) for ₩35,000, with rice, cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), and somyeon (thin wheat noodles). The octopus and scallops were springy without being tough, and the medium spice level was manageable for me.

Daejeon Korean restaurant for pork octopus stir-fry: Chongil Nakji

Chongil Nakji, Tanbang branch is an octopus stir-fry restaurant opposite Sanho Apartments in Seo, Daejeon. My husband and I had two portions of pork octopus stir-fry with extra scallop meat and a sample portion of bulgogi; it was filling for two, though the level-2 spice was milder than expected and the food took a little time to arrive.
