How to get to Butter & Shelter Gangnam-Sinsa, and parking
Butter & Shelter Gangnam-Sinsa (버터앤쉘터 강남신사점) sits in an alley very close to Sinsa Station and the main Garosu-gil street. The shop has no parking lot of its own, so parking isn't possible. Check that before you go.

I visited this Garosu-gil café, and with the weather so hot and humid these days, walking gets exhausting. But it pops up after just a short walk from the subway station, so access is really great!
The Garosu-gil area is crowded and the alleys are full of cars, so I'd suggest taking public transport for peace of mind, or looking up a nearby public parking lot beforehand.
What is the atmosphere at Butter & Shelter Gangnam-Sinsa like?
With its deep, stylish green exterior, Butter & Shelter Gangnam-Sinsa stands out right away as you walk the Garosu-gil alleys. Inside, the air conditioning is blasting and it's tidy, and it feels quiet compared with the bustling main street.

I left the muggy air outside, stepped in, and the AC was going full blast. Pure heaven! The cool air wiped out the heat at once, and the first impression was so comfortable I'd give it a perfect score. And unlike the noisy, crowded main street outside, the inside felt clean, relaxed and calm, with nothing superfluous.

I thought right away that this is a great Sinsa Station café for stepping out of a hectic day and quietly healing for a while. On one side of the shop, luxurious dessert boxes are stacked up and pretty props are placed around, so it's also great for taking moody photos.
Best of all, every single staff member was so kind!! They greeted me with bright, warm smiles, and I was in a good mood the whole time I was there.
Packing the Original Butter Sand set with a cooler bag as a gift
The signature Original Butter Sand set at Butter & Shelter Gangnam-Sinsa is ₩24,800. Since I was packing it as a gift, I asked for one extra shopping bag and a cooler bag. When I asked the owner, he said it keeps for about 7-8 hours in the cooler bag.

Seeing all the baked goods and sands lined up in the clear showcase, I fell into a happy dilemma over what to pick.

After some thought I ordered the signature 'Original Butter Sand set (₩24,800)' to go, plus one more individual sand for myself. Haha

The packaging itself is sturdy and so stylish that it works as a sweet reward for yourself and is just right as a gift for people around you.

Since it was for a gift, I asked for one extra shopping bag and a cooler bag! I figured it would take a while to get to the recipient's home. When I asked the owner, he said it keeps for about 7-8 hours in the cooler bag!

What does the Original Butter Sand taste like?
The cookie shell of the Original Butter Sand crumbles softly without any dryness, and the sweetness of caramel and butter is gentle. When I got home and tried mine, I genuinely gasped. The soft texture of the shell crumbling pleasantly in my mouth was truly artful.
The caramel and savory butter filling was never an artificial, harsh sweetness that stabs your tongue. It's a mild, refined sweetness that just lingers nicely, so even people who don't usually like sweet desserts could enjoy it without feeling overwhelmed.
The rich flavor from good ingredients spreads heavily through your mouth with a lingering savoriness, and it's strangely addictive. You keep reaching for more.
How to order at Butter & Shelter Gangnam-Sinsa, the event, and verdict
You order at a kiosk at Butter & Shelter Gangnam-Sinsa, and at the time of my visit, joining the Naver receipt review event got you one more butter sand. I also recommend freezing the packed butter sand slightly before eating.

Inside there's a well-set-up kiosk where you can order easily while looking at menu photos, so ordering was very convenient. And one more honey tip! The shop is running a Naver receipt review event, so if you join, you get one more tasty butter sand.
If you chill the butter sand you took home in the freezer for a bit and eat it cold, the butter and caramel inside turn chewy and give you another fantastic texture.
Overall I was satisfied with everything, from the cool, quiet atmosphere to the kind staff and the dessert's great, savory flavor. If you want a taste of a real, high-quality Garosu-gil dessert, I strongly recommend dropping by on a day you need some sweet healing!
