I had an appointment in Beomeo-dong, so I stopped by Daesin Peanut Bread's Beomeo branch to pick up peanut bread for my kids and my mother. Peanut bread is a familiar snack you often see at markets and on the street, but every now and then you just crave it.

What does "Daesin" in Daesin Peanut Bread mean?

Daesin Peanut Bread is known as a snack from Seomun Market in Daegu. The "Daesin" in the name doesn't mean "instead of" something else; it refers to Daesin-dong in Daegu, so it's the Daesin-dong peanut bread. I was happy to find the already famous peanut bread, the kind people line up for at Seomun Market, here in Beomeo-dong too.

What is Daesin Peanut Bread Beomeo like inside?

The inside of the shop was tidier than I expected, and with tables and seats it looked fine for eating in too. I was taking mine to go, so I didn't stay long. There are lots of schools and hagwons (cram schools) nearby, so I imagine students drop in for a quick bite during their breaks.

There's also a peanut bread machine at the back of the shop. I didn't actually see bread being made when I visited, but I could see what kind of equipment they use. It would have been more fun to watch it come off the griddle fresh. Hope I get to see that next time I come with the kids, haha. And with the smell too, you can't help but eat more.

On one side of the shop there's a tasting corner where you can try roasted peanuts. Being roasted, they taste even nuttier, and I almost kept grabbing them from the tasting corner, hahaha.

Egg bread and peanut butter at Daesin

Daesin Peanut Bread also sells gyeran-ppang (egg bread, a warm sweet bun with a whole egg baked in). It has a different charm from the peanut bread, and I think it would be good to take home and reheat. Egg bread is the kind you blow on to cool down in winter.

They sell peanut butter too, and the prices struck me as more reasonable than the peanut butter sold in stores.

The 80-piece peanut bread box: how did it taste?

To share with my family, I ordered the 80-piece peanut bread box (₩10,000). Because it's a boxed order, they packed it with the lid open so the bread wouldn't go soggy. I ate one in the car to taste it, and I kept reaching for more and had a hard time stopping, hahaha. This peanut bread has a magical pull.

You can see peanuts studded all over the surface. The peanut bread I've usually eaten has one peanut split in half, top and bottom, but Daesin's is stuffed with peanuts like it's declaring "THIS IS PEANUT BREAD!!!!!!!!!!!", which made it nuttier and even better.
