Sindorim Korean restaurant: Busan cold jokbal after work, Sambaekga
In short
Sindorim Sambaekga (신도림삼백가) is a Korean restaurant for jokbal (braised pig's trotters) and kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) on the first floor of the Prugio shopping arcade, across from D Cube City at Sindorim Station in Guro, Seoul. Two friends coming from work in Jongno and Bucheon met there at 7pm on a weekday, waited about 10 minutes, and ordered Busan-style cold jokbal and Sambaek kalguksu (₩9,900); the tangy-sweet cold sauce, said to be a Chosun Hotel chef's recipe, and the refreshing kalguksu broth stood out. Verdict: even a Busan cold jokbal fan found Sindorim Sambaekga's version better than the original in Busan, making it a satisfying after-work meeting spot.

I work in Jongno and my close unnie (older friend) lives in Bucheon! The easiest place for us to meet after work is Sindorim, the transfer hub, which is right about halfway. Instead of our usual boring spots, I went on a search spree for a good restaurant and found an amazing jokbal and kalguksu place near Sindorim Station: Sindorim Sambaekga (신도림삼백가). Everything from the food to the friendly service was perfect, so here is my honest review in detail!

How to get to Sindorim Sambaekga, and parking

Sambaekga is in the Prugio shopping arcade building across from D Cube City in Sindorim. It is close to the station and inside the building, so even on my first visit I found it quickly without getting lost. And in a crowded area like Sindorim, you get a whole 2 hours of free parking! Beginner drivers and anyone coming by car can visit without parking stress, which is a really big plus.
Weekday 7pm wait and the atmosphere inside

We arrived at 7pm on a weekday and the place was already completely full of people having dinner after work! (A truly good restaurant, I wondered how everyone just knows about it 👀) After a happy wait of about 10 minutes, we got in. The inside is small but clean and cozy overall.

An inner seat for quiet chatting
Toward the back there is a space slightly separated from the main hall, with 3 tables of its own. We were lucky to get a seat there, and it was so nice to catch up quietly and cozily over dinner. (I took the photos of the whole restaurant after we finished eating, near closing time when the crowd had thinned out, in a quick dash!)
What we ordered: Busan-style cold jokbal and Sambaek kalguksu

You order on the tablet placed on the table, which is easy. We ordered the signature combination here: Busan-style cold jokbal (chilled pig's trotters with vegetables and a tangy sauce) and Sambaek kalguksu!

Right after we ordered, the side dishes were set out quickly.

Sambaek kalguksu, ₩9,900: how is the broth?
The Sambaek kalguksu is ₩9,900, and the broth was really clear and deep, a perfect match for the jokbal. On a chilly day like these, hot broth is a must. The neat side dishes and the wrap vegetables served alongside were fresh too, so they were great to eat together.

Busan cold jokbal, as tried by a Busan cold jokbal maniac
I'm such a maniac that every time I travel to Busan, I always have to eat cold jokbal, okay? So when I saw it right there on the Sambaekga menu, I ordered it like it was fate.

As soon as it came out I was amazed by the fancy plating. Then I used the disposable gloves they gave us to mix the fresh vegetables and tender jokbal thoroughly, took a bite... and wow! I couldn't help exclaiming. They say it's made with a secret cold-dish sauce from a Chosun Hotel chef, and the tangy, pleasantly sweet-and-sour savoriness was no joke.

There was no gamey smell at all, and the chewy texture with the crunchy vegetables was so good that, honestly, it tasted better than the cold jokbal I queued for in Busan itself. The quality is seriously amazing!
Handy tips and the owner's thoughtful touches

- Free barley rice: if you order kalguksu at Sambaekga, you get delicious barley rice as a free extra!
- Naver receipt review event: leave a receipt review and get 1 free bottle of a drink! Be sure to join in and enjoy it cold.

After we finished our full meal and paid, there was orange juice and green grape candy ready to freshen our mouths. I was touched by the owner's thoughtfulness, which made me happy right to the very end.
Overall verdict on Sindorim Sambaekga

Sambaekga is a strong pick for dinner or drinks after work, and also for lunch for office workers and residents near Sindorim! If you are craving proper jokbal and hot kalguksu in Sindorim, definitely visit Sambaekga once. Highly recommended! 👍
