Seokgye Station Korean BBQ after-work date with grilled kimchi: Hanam

Hanam Doeji Jip Seokgye branch: a dinner date on my boyfriend's way home from work

I had a dinner date timed to my boyfriend's finish at work, at Hanam Doeji Jip (하남돼지집) Seokgye branch. I already love Hanam Doeji Jip! Every branch is pretty much the same, which is why I keep stopping by, and this time I tried the Seokgye one.

It had been a while since my last Hanam Doeji Jip visit. The biggest plus of any branch is that the staff grill the meat for you! Seokgye is a bit far from where I live, but it's near my boyfriend's workplace, so I made it our date spot. Going out to dinner right when he gets off work, what a happy... (?) haha. We've been together a long time, but we don't see each other every day since I live far away, so little events like this are fun.

Hanam Doeji Jip Seokgye branch: location, hours and parking

Hanam Doeji Jip Seokgye branch is a 5-minute walk from Seokgye Station (석계역). I can absolutely recommend it as a Korean BBQ restaurant near the station.

There's a car park in the park near Seokgye Station, and it's spacious and easy to park in!

Basic side dishes at Hanam Doeji Jip Seokgye branch

The basic side dishes are wasabi, salt, ssamjang (dipping paste), garlic, seasoned lettuce salad, pickled wild garlic leaves (myeongi namul), kimchi and bean sprouts. There were no leafy wraps or chili peppers, but it's a pretty solid, back-to-basics lineup!! The staff grill the kimchi and bean sprouts on the grill later.

Set menus at Hanam Doeji Jip Seokgye branch, and why I chose the mixed platter

The set menus are the couple set, the mixed platter (모둠한판) and the naengsam (thin-sliced pork belly) set, and we went with the mixed platter!

I was torn about the couple set, which comes with stew and rice, but this time I wanted to try different sides, so I picked the platter. The sides we had (kimchi-filled cold noodle soup and lunchbox-style kimchi fried rice) were seriously delicious. Look forward to them below!!!!!

Do they really grill the meat at Hanam Doeji Jip Seokgye?

Yes! A staff member stands at your table and grills the mixed platter for you, dedicated to your table. That meant we could just focus on eating, which was so comfy.

Kyaa, the mixed meat came out right away. Every branch grills it like this. It's the best that Seokgye does it too, and everyone was so kind✨✨

They cut the meat into perfect bite-size pieces and grill it in neat rows, which is so convenient and nice.

Look at this meat•• The meat at Hanam Doeji Jip really tastes good, and with so many branches, I think the biggest plus is that you can get tasty meat at a reasonable price at any of them.

Once the meat is done, they move it to the side of the grill so you can eat it right away~!!

Pork belly with grilled kimchi and grilled bean sprouts

At the Seokgye branch, the staff ask whether you want the kimchi and bean sprouts from the side dishes grilled, and if you say yes, they grill them right away!! They add a little extra oil and cook them on the spot.

And that completes the combo: pork belly + grilled kimchi + grilled bean sprouts.. Those three dipped in ssamjang are just heavenly, you know? Everyone, run to Hanam Doeji Jip right now. I'm writing this and I'm craving it so much..

Sides at Hanam Doeji Jip Seokgye: kimchi-filled cold noodle soup and lunchbox-style kimchi fried rice

For sides, instead of the usual stew and rice, I ordered kimchi-filled cold noodle soup (김치말이국수) and lunchbox-style kimchi fried rice (도시락김치볶음밥) for the first time in a while. I thought about steamed egg too, but skipped it this time.

Maybe because it's hot in summer, I was really craving those noodles.

The lunchbox-style kimchi fried rice tastes exactly the way you'd expect. The fried egg is frozen, haha, but I enjoyed it anyway.

Mix it up swish-swash and it's so insanely good I could polish off three meals of it on its own. Hanam Doeji Jip is a franchise with great sides too, seriously.

ㅠㅠㅠ A look that makes my mouth water just seeing it.. Having the cold noodle soup after so long made it even better. And as for how well it goes with pork belly, need I say more? It's so good♥️

Can you bring a baby to Hanam Doeji Jip Seokgye?

There are aprons and baby chairs, so bringing a baby is fine. The table in front of us was actually using a baby chair!
