Sirloin steak set date at Polia, a Gimpo Unyang-dong steak restaurant

In short

Restaurant Polia is a steak and wood-fired pizza restaurant in Unyang-dong, Gimpo, Gyeonggi. After a drive along the Han River, we ordered the 46,700-won sirloin steak set — soup, salad of the day, steak, dessert and herbal tea — plus a 22,900-won margherita pizza. The nutty fresh mozzarella pizza and the tender medium-rare sirloin made Polia an easy pick for a two-person dinner.

Why we drove along the Han River to Polia in Gimpo's Unyang-dong

My husband and I went for a drive along the Han River after a while, stopping by Gimpo Hangang New Town. Once the drive was over we got hungry, so we looked up good restaurants in the area and ended up at Restaurant Polia. Even though it's been running for 12 years, the space was clean and had a nice atmosphere — great for a meal for two.

That day we had the sirloin steak set along with a whole margherita pizza. The pizza especially stuck with me — the second I took a bite, I could taste how savory the cheese was.

Where to park at Restaurant Polia

Restaurant Polia is on the second floor of the building. There's parking space behind the building, so it looked convenient to visit by car.

There was no separate elevator. The stairs weren't steep, and there was a handrail installed.

Inside Polia: a spacious dining room with the wood-fired oven in view

As soon as you walk in, you can see the wood-fired oven. Since it's a wood-fired pizza specialist, there were a lot of people in the restaurant enjoying pizza.

The interior of Restaurant Polia was quite spacious, more than I expected. There was seating for groups as well as tables for two and four. Overall it left a clean impression.

Each table had dishes and cutlery neatly set out, which also felt tidy. It seemed like a good date spot in Gimpo Hangang New Town for a day when you want a slightly nicer meal without being too formal.

We ordered one sirloin steak set and one margherita pizza.

  • Sirloin steak set ₩46,700: soup, salad of the day, sirloin steak, dessert of the day, coffee or herbal tea
  • Margherita pizza ₩22,900

At the time of our visit, the steak was listed at ₩46,700 with a 15% discount applied. We chose the set, which came with soup, garlic bread, salad, sirloin steak, dessert, and an after-meal drink. We chose medium-rare for the steak doneness, and picked herbal tea over coffee for the after-meal drink.

Notice for the free ade event running at the time of the visit

At the time of our visit, there was also an event where you could get a free ade drink for writing a Naver review. If you'd like to take part, check whether the event is still running and what the conditions are when you order :)

Garlic bread, rich soup and salad of the day

Starter dishes from the set: garlic bread, soup, and salad
Garlic bread / soup / salad

The garlic bread, soup, and salad came out first.

Soup topped with bread pieces and herb powder

On top of the white soup were small pieces of bread and a sprinkle of green herbs. When I took a spoonful, the flavor was rich and it was nice for warming up an empty stomach.

Crispy garlic bread served alongside the soup

I tried the crispy garlic bread on its own, then dipped it into the soup — the bread soaked up the soup and turned soft, and it was so good that I preferred eating it that way.

Salad of the day with fresh vegetables and fruit

This was the salad of the day included in the set. It came with fresh vegetables along with cherry tomatoes and fruit. The red and orange mixed in with the green looked really fresh.

It tasted as refreshing as it looked, and was great for stimulating the appetite before the meal. After the rich soup, a bite of salad felt like it refreshed my palate.

How the margherita pizza with fresh mozzarella tasted

The margherita pizza — which I decided to order the moment I saw the wood-fired oven — arrived! On top of the golden-baked crust, the cheese was melted generously.

Apparently Polia uses 99.9% fresh mozzarella with no cheddar mixed in, aged at low temperature for 48 hours.

Maybe that's why — the moment I took a bite, the savoriness of the cheese hit me right away. I thought, 'Ah, this is what real cheese tastes like.'

I do like pizzas loaded with various toppings, but that day I felt glad I'd ordered the margherita, since it let me fully taste the cheese.

The pickles served alongside were crunchy and tangy, good to have between bites of pizza.

Polia's sirloin steak cooked medium-rare

The sirloin steak my husband had been looking forward to arrived. There were clear grill marks on the surface, and it came with sauce and garnish. Salt and whole grain mustard were also provided separately to go with the steak.

We had ordered it medium-rare, and when we cut into the center, the inside was pink, cooked exactly the way we asked.

The steak had especially great texture that day. It wasn't too tough and chewed smoothly, so even for me, someone who isn't a big meat lover, it kept me wanting more.

Eating it together with the garnish that came with it made the flavor even richer than eating the meat alone. I sometimes put mushrooms on top of the steak, or added a bit of salt or mustard here and there.

This was the complimentary ade we got from the event. Pairing it with the refreshing grapefruit ade let us enjoy the meal in a slightly cleaner way.

Dessert and herbal tea included in the set

This is the dessert and after-meal drink (herbal tea) included in the sirloin steak set. Starting with soup and salad, then having the main dish, and finishing with dessert made the whole set feel well put together.

Is the steak and pizza combination enough for two?

Polia in Gimpo Hangang New Town was a restaurant where my husband and I had a great meal after a Han River drive. I especially liked the savory cheese flavor of the margherita pizza, and the texture of the steak enjoyed medium-rare.

With the soup, garlic bread, and salad included, ordering two main dishes still felt like a well-rounded meal. If you're visiting as a couple, consider trying the same combination we did — one sirloin steak set plus one wood-fired pizza :)
