Bakery café at Balsan Station: salt bread & cold brew pairing, Byway

In short

Byway Bakers Balsan Station is a bakery café near Balsan Station in Gangseo, Seoul, that bakes its bread in-store. The writer phoned ahead on a weekend to confirm parking, then ordered salt bread, a financier, a cold brew and an Americano; the buttery salt bread and the better-than-expected financier both paired well with the low-acidity cold brew. I was looking for a good bakery café near Balsan Station and ended up at Byway Bakers Balsan Station (바이웨이 베이커스 발산역점)!! The bread selection was really varied and the coffee was great too, so I'd happily go again haha

Naver Map says parking isn't available at Byway Bakers Balsan Station, but on the weekend you can actually park behind the shop. (There just aren't many spots! T_T)

Call the shop and ask before you go haha. We phoned to ask about parking first, too!

What did we order at Byway Bakers Balsan Station?

We ordered salt bread, a financier (small butter almond cake), cold brew and an Americano. There were so many kinds of bread, but I went with salt bread, a financier and cold brew!!

The bread seemed to be made in the shop itself! They kept restocking it throughout the day haha. If you like fresh bread and baked sweets, it would be a good place to visit for a laptop session too haha

Ordered salt bread, financier and coffee

We ordered cold brew, an Americano, a financier and salt bread haha (they also have the trendy wakku salt bread here~ 😽)

Byway Bakers salt bread

The salt bread was crisp outside and moist inside, with a texture I really liked. The rich butter flavor plus the salty note made one piece feel not enough!! I immediately understood why people call it a salt bread hotspot.

The financier that beat expectations

The surprise at Byway Bakers was the financier!! Lightly crisp outside, moist and chewy inside, with a rich, nutty butter flavor. I really enjoyed it. It wasn't too sweet, so it was perfect with coffee, and I already wanted to try other flavors next time!!

Salt bread and financier with cold brew

The cold brew at Byway Bakers isn't strongly acidic, and it's clean yet smooth, so it paired so well with the bakery items. I was really happy with it! A bite of salt bread, then a sip of cold brew: the best combo!!

It goes really well with the financier too, so if you like desserts, please try this combination!!

Is Byway Bakers Balsan Station worth going back to?

The staff were friendly and the shop was kept clean, so I had a lovely time haha. Best of all, the bread keeps getting restocked, so you can taste bakery items fresh out of the oven.

If you're looking for a bakery café, salt bread or financiers near Balsan Station, I recommend Byway Bakers Balsan Station!! Next time I'm nearby I'll come back to try the other breads one by one!! If you love bread, it's worth a stop at least once. 😊
