Gwangju Sangmu pasta and pizza for a wedding invite meetup: Bueokgan
In short
Bueokgan Sangmu Branch (부엌간 상무점) is a pasta and wood-fired pizza restaurant on Seogwangju-ro in the Sangmu district of Seo-gu, Gwangju. During the Chuseok holiday, friends met at Bueokgan Sangmu Branch for a wedding invitation gathering and, after a wait, shared à la carte truffle cream gnocchi, clam oil pasta and a jambon, honey and cheese wood-fired pizza. The wait was long, but the food and wood-tone interior made Bueokgan Sangmu Branch a satisfying spot for a wedding invitation meetup.

How long is the wait at Bueokgan Sangmu Branch?
Bueokgan Sangmu Branch works on a write-your-number-and-wait system, and sure enough there was a wait the day we visited, ugh. I guess that's because it's already so well known as a pasta hotspot in Sangmu district. You do have to write your number and wait!!
If you're planning to visit during peak hours, I'd recommend going a bit early or making a reservation ahead of time.

How's the vibe at Bueokgan Sangmu Branch for a wedding invite meetup?
The first impression the moment I stepped into Bueokgan Sangmu Branch was, 'This is really clean and upscale.' The warm yet stylish wood-tone interior combined with atmospheric lighting meant every angle made for a great photo.
The interior's clean and the vibe is great, which is why my friend suggested it — apparently it's often recommended for wedding invitation meetups, haha. Visiting in person, I immediately understood why it's popular as a gathering spot. Isn't the interior just gorgeous?

When there's a group, set menu or à la carte?
There are set menus on Bueokgan Sangmu Branch's menu, but we ordered everything à la carte. Since there were several of us, we wanted to try a variety of dishes, so we ordered generously, focusing mostly on Bueokgan's signature items!!

Even the tableware felt kind of pretty~
The wedding invitation I got from my friend~~~~~~ We went during the Chuseok holiday, and there was a wait, plus a group ahead of us, so we waited a bit even after getting in!!!!

Our orders all came out together!!!! There were so many customers that we waited forever, ugh, but tasting it made up for everything, haha.

Bueokgan's must-order dish, truffle cream gnocchi
Truffle cream gnocchi is the must-order item if you go to Bueokgan! The gnocchi's chewy yet soft texture was pure art. The rich, savory cream sauce carried a subtle truffle aroma that spread through the whole mouth — pure happiness.
The sauce was so good I scraped up every last spoonful, haha 🤤🤤

This was my first time trying properly made gnocchi... 🥹

Clam-loaded oil pasta
Bueokgan Sangmu Branch's clam oil pasta was loaded with fresh clams, and the oil itself had a deep, refreshing savoriness. The noodles were cooked just right, so they clung together nicely!!
I thought it might be greasy, but it wasn't heavy at all!!!!!

Sweet-and-salty jambon, honey, cheese wood-fired pizza
Bueokgan Sangmu Branch's jambon wood-fired pizza had a chewy, clean-tasting dough you could enjoy all the way to the crust. The savory-salty jambon paired with honey and cheese was a perfect sweet-and-salty combo.
You could tell the toppings were generously loaded — even one slice felt really satisfying~~

It kind of felt like eating a scallion bagel. Maybe because it's wood-fired, but the bread dough was genuinely delicious!!

What dessert do you get from the Bueokgan Sangmu Branch review event?
When dining at Bueokgan Sangmu Branch, be sure to join the 'review event' they're running in store! Participate with a Naver receipt review or similar, and you get a pastry pie!

It was the perfect finishing dessert, haha.
