Pohang crab restaurant family dinner, crab-guts fried rice: Gallilli
In short
Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang (갈릴리대게회식당) is a snow crab and sashimi restaurant inside Jukdo Market in Pohang, Gyeongbuk. On a vacation-season evening, the writer's family ordered the bakdal snow crab set for 4 at 240,000 won. Domestic bakdal crab wasn't available that day, so they had the regular bakdal set, which came as a full course: sashimi, abalone sashimi, mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), seafood ramyeon and crab-guts fried rice. Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang is a good stop on a Pohang trip for anyone who wants snow crab and sashimi in one meal.

Why I picked Gallilli, a Pohang Jukdo Market crab restaurant
Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang (갈릴리대게회식당) is a crab and sashimi restaurant inside Jukdo Market in Pohang. This time I came to Pohang with the whole family, and when I searched for the best Jukdo Market restaurants, so many Pohang crab places came up?! The one with by far the most blog reviews, and the one that kept showing up as both a crab place and a Jukdo Market sashimi restaurant, was "Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang," so I made a reservation and went!

Parking and location
I parked at Jukdo Market Parking Lot No. 3, which is the closest, and there was lots of space. Even though it was a vacation-season evening, there were plenty of spots, which was a relief! Gallilli is inside Jukdo Market, so it's easy to reach during a Pohang trip and fits nicely into a travel route! 🦀

I liked that there wasn't much pushy touting! They say 30 years of know-how lets them cut down the seafood distribution chain and offer reasonable prices, and the place had lots of customers, so I came in with high expectations!

The menu and the atmosphere
Prices are laid out transparently, including per-person courses, so the cost is fixed and you can decide without stressing about the bill. That was a plus! Bakdal crab (bakdal daegae, a prized type of snow crab) looked like the signature item here.

The inside is fairly clean, so I thought it would be fine for visiting with family or friends.

Bakdal crab set for 4 at ₩240,000, on a day with no domestic crab
I ordered the bakdal crab set for 4 at ₩240,000. On the day I visited, they said there was no domestic bakdal crab, so I just ordered the regular bakdal set. It was busy vacation season, so the crab took a little while to come out, but the sashimi and side dishes arrived first as part of the course, and after a few bites the time flew by ~

The side dishes
The sides were varied: fried items, mulhoe (cold spicy raw fish soup), water kimchi and more, all things that get your appetite going!

The abalone sashimi and the basic dishes also came in a generous, varied spread, so it was nice to taste a bit of everything as we ate!

How was the sashimi?
To my taste, the sashimi was fresh and sweet, and the ingredients were neatly prepared, so it was an easy, no-pressure meal. One drawback: I thought it would be even better if the sashimi were a bit colder! It had no fishy smell and was fresh, and I enjoyed every piece.

Since I ordered the bakdal set, it felt like an unexpected bonus, as if I'd walked into a Pohang sashimi restaurant! A good reference spot for enjoying crab and sashimi together at a Jukdo Market restaurant!

Full-meat bakdal crab, and how it was prepared
While I was eating sashimi, the full-meat bakdal crab came out neatly prepared, and I enjoyed it a lot. The crab guts weren't fishy at all, but nutty and rich, so I picked out the crab meat and dunked it right in! The body was especially well prepared, so I could just slurp the meat out, and it came out so cleanly it felt like boneless crab?~

Finishing with seafood ramyeon and crab-guts fried rice
To finish, there was seafood ramyeon, and it was perfect for my love of strong flavors! Chewy noodles, mussels inside and a spicy broth, a perfect way to end the meal, right ~?

And the other highlight! The crab-guts fried rice is a must-eat, and as I remember it was a few thousand won extra! For details, check the menu or ask the staff! It was nutty, and eating it with the rice and seafood ramyeon left us nicely full, a good way to wrap up the Pohang trip!

For a first visit, Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang in Jukdo Market was a place where you can taste crab and sashimi together in the bakdal crab set, and enjoy full-meat bakdal crab as a course!
