Seocho snack bar with extra fish cake tteokbokki, solo lunch: Halls

Halls Gimbap Main Branch is a snack bar near Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul, serving gimbap (seaweed rice rolls), tteokbokki and dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken). Dining solo, I ordered the double cheese egg dakgangjeong set for 12,000 won and the extra fish cake tteokbokki for 7,500 won, and the tteokbokki came with nurungji (crispy scorched rice) that added a nutty note to the sweet-spicy sauce. Halls Gimbap Main Branch suits anyone who likes gimbap with thin rice and generous filling for a solo meal near Gyodae Station.

Seocho poke restaurant first visit: 100g raw salmon bowl at Olla Poke

Olla Poke Seocho Gyodae Branch is a poke restaurant on the basement level of 54 Banpo-daero 28-gil, a short walk from Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul. On a first visit the raw salmon poke cost 13,500 won and came with 100g of raw salmon plus red onion, corn, pineapple, seaweed, chickpeas and lentils, with oat brown rice, buckwheat noodles or salad as the base and the ratio adjustable. The bowl at Olla Poke was filling without feeling heavy, which made it an easy solo lunch near Gyodae Station.
