At first I wondered if tteokbokki and nurungji would actually go well together. But once I tried it, the nurungji soaked up the tteokbokki sauce, adding a savory note to the spicy-sweet flavor that worked really well. The parts soaked in sauce were moist, while the still-slightly-crispy parts made for a fun texture contrast.

It had a distinct point of difference from regular tteokbokki that made it extra memorable. ✨ And of course, gimbap has to be dipped lightly into the tteokbokki sauce. Dipping the double cheese egg gimbap into the sauce added a spicy kick to the savory cheese and egg — a great combination.
