Squid jeotgal and gondre porridge at Hyoeunok, a Gyeongju restaurant
Hyoeunok Gyeongju Branch is a beef bone hot pot restaurant on Bukgun 3-gil, near the Bomun district in Gyeongju. The Ppyeoberest hot pot came with beef bones so tender the meat lifted off with chopsticks, a generous pile of shabu-shabu-style vegetables, and gondre rice stirred into the leftover broth as porridge at the end; the squid jeotgal (salted squid) side dish was good enough to ask the owner whether she sold it. Parking is roomy for a drive around Gyeongju, and Hyoeunok went straight onto the revisit list.
