Classicdang is a wood-fired pizza place in Yeonnam-dong, about a 10-minute walk from Exit 3 of Hongik University Station. The weather's been getting so nice lately that it feels like proper terrace-dining fall weather. I'd been going on and on to a friend about wanting wood-fired pizza, so we met up at Hongdae Station on the weekend and headed to Yeonnam-dong for it✨ I'd seen it on Naver Maps and the interior looked so pretty even at a glance that I really wanted to visit.👏

Terrace or indoor seats at Classicdang: which works better?

Classicdang's exterior had a strongly exotic feel.✨ I haven't been to Europe myself, but it somehow gave off that European feeling! Great for a date, and also good for a group.🫶

The terrace seating was pretty spacious, so it looked comfortable to enjoy🥰 We thought about sitting outside, but it was a bit hot the day we visited, so we went in and sat inside instead.

There were quite a few seats inside too! The atmosphere for eating indoors was also nice. Every corner of the place had that certain aesthetic feel!

Adding up the outdoor and indoor seating, there were actually more seats than I expected.

Classicdang menu and prices: pizza 24,000 won, pasta 19,000 won

Classicdang's menu had pizzas, salads, pasta, risotto, steak, and lasagna. They said pizza and lasagna are the signature dishes! I was curious about the lasagna too, but we saved it for next time and ordered the basil pesto tomato pizza (₩24,000) and the crab cheese rosé pasta (₩19,000).

For drinks we ordered zero-sugar cola! Even the straw shape had that exotic feel somehow🧐

And of course, no aesthetic table is complete without a tulip🩷

Basil pesto tomato pizza at Classicdang

Our pizza arrived. Classicdang's basil pesto tomato pizza came topped with cherry tomatoes, basil pesto, and a drizzle of balsamic sauce, with grated cheese over the tomatoes😚 There was a lemon sitting right in the middle.

Maybe because the cherry tomatoes were sweet, the combination of salty cheese and tangy-sweet balsamic worked really well. The basil pesto's aroma was strong too, so overall it came together in a harmonious flavor — pass👏 The friend I ate with enjoyed it too.

The savory flavor unique to wood-fired pizza and the soft, chewy dough went down easily! If you're someone who usually likes basil, this is the menu I'd recommend for you.👍 We didn't squeeze the lemon over it ourselves, but I think doing so would give it a different flavor altogether.

Crab cheese rose pasta at Classicdang

Next up, the crab cheese rosé pasta! The distinctive sweet-savory, tangy taste of rosé sauce paired well with the cheese. You could taste a subtle hint of crab too, so it was delicious. I thought it might be spicy since there was chili in it, but it wasn't too hot — just the right amount of spice so it was easy to eat without any pressure.😋

The sauce was rich and thick, and the ricotta cheese on top went really well with the rosé sauce. The noodles were also cooked just right and thin, so the texture was nice and it was easy to eat without feeling heavy.🎶

We were chatting away while eating, and before we knew it, everything was gone! Both the sauce and the pizza were so good I found myself wanting more🤤

Is Classicdang a good date restaurant in Yeonnam-dong?

Today I visited Classicdang in Yeonnam-dong with a friend! The atmosphere is so nice that if you're looking for a great date restaurant, I really recommend visiting.👏 I don't eat Western food that often, but coming here to eat like this was really lovely! It's close to Hongdae Station too, and there are lots of pretty cafés nearby to go to afterward, so I'd recommend visiting with a friend or a partner if you're out exploring Hongdae!💕
