What is Parang Haenyeojip Sinsa Direct Store like?

Parang Haenyeojip Sinsa Direct Store (파랑해녀집 신사직영점) is a seafood bar on the 1st floor of 19 Gangnam-daero 160-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, within walking distance of Sinsa Station and Garosu-gil. I had plans in Sinsa on the weekend and found it while looking around.

It's tucked inside Garosu-gil, so it's easy to get to, and the atmosphere is nice, perfect for a drink. I wanted a variety of fresh seafood that day, so I went in without a second thought, and I ended up quite satisfied.

What is the atmosphere like at Parang Haenyeojip in Garosu-gil?

It's cleaner than I expected, a trendy-feeling seafood bar. Not too loud, just pleasantly lively, so it works for dates, friends' get-togethers or company dinners ♡

The menu runs from aged sashimi to mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), octopus bossam (boiled octopus wraps) and seasonal dishes, and I agonized for a long time. In the end we ordered the haenyeo box, which lets you try several things at once, and I really felt we chose well.

The haenyeo box is the signature menu with a wide range of seafood in one go, so I recommend it for a first visit ♡ For indecisive people like us, the best choice!!!

After a short wait, the haenyeo box arrived looking generous. The look of it alone was satisfying. Several kinds of seafood sit neatly on one plate, and just looking at it makes you want a drink. Haha.

How did the seafood in the haenyeo box taste?

Every piece in the haenyeo box was fresh and clean, with no fishy smell, which made it easy to eat. With so many kinds, it was fun picking and trying a bit of everything ^^

The chewy texture was there, and the faint scent of the sea came through as you chewed, so it paired really well with drinks. What I liked most was getting to enjoy many things at once without ordering them separately!!

Do banchan and seaweed soup come with it?

Yes, banchan (side dishes) come with a warm miyeok-guk (seaweed soup), one per person ^^ The banchan went well with the seafood and weren't overdone, so they made the main dish taste even better.

Dipping in soy sauce or chogochujang (sweet-sour chili sauce) was tasty too, but personally I liked enjoying the seafood just as it was ♡

Is the futomaki at Parang Haenyeojip worth trying?

I highly recommend the futomaki (thick sushi roll), which you can stuff your mouth with ♡ It's the kind of dish that calls for a drink, so naturally we had one alongside. Haha.

Fresh seafood with a drink made the mood great and the conversation went on and on. It was a relaxed time after a long while. I'm quite happy you can eat seafood like this in Garosu-gil!!

Staff service and overall verdict

Above all, the staff were friendly. They responded right away whenever we needed something and explained the food, so we had a pleasant meal ♡
