Gongdeok diet restaurant: 50g-protein beef tofu noodle set, Why Starve

In short

Why Starve Diet Gongdeok Main Branch is a protein-box diet restaurant on basement level 1 of Lotte Castle President, by Exit 2 of Gongdeok Station in Mapo, Seoul. I ate the beef tofu noodle protein set in the restaurant with Greek yogurt and an Americano; the store's nutrition chart lists the beef tofu noodle box at 427kcal and 50g of protein. With a generous beef portion and tofu noodles as a proper base, the Why Starve beef tofu noodle set felt closer to a real meal than a salad.

Lately I've realized that managing my diet isn't just about eating less — it matters more to get the protein and nutrition right even if it's just one meal. But eating chicken breast and salad every single day gets old fast, and if I have plans outside, my whole diet can collapse in one go ㅠㅠ So I've been on the lookout for places where I can eat well and still stay on track... this time I visited Why Starve Diet Gongdeok Main Branch in Gongdeok.

Walking to Why Starve Diet Gongdeok Main Branch from Gongdeok Station Exit 2

Why Starve Diet Gongdeok Main Branch is located in the basement 1F of Lotte Castle President, close to Gongdeok Station Exit 2, so accessibility was quite good. It also seemed like a fine spot for office workers near Gongdeok Station to drop by for lunch or dinner.

When I got to the storefront, the phrase WHY STARVE? caught my eye first. The concept was clear — you don't have to starve yourself or eat bland food just because you're dieting.

A vibe that works fine for solo dining in Gongdeok

Why Starve Gongdeok Main Branch has both solo seating and 2-person tables, so it looked like a decent spot for solo dining in Gongdeok too. Compared to a typical salad shop, I personally liked it more because the protein-box format lets you eat meat and various ingredients as a proper meal.

The interior is mainly white with red and orange as accent colors, giving it a bright, casual feel. There are posters on the walls themed around food and protein, which were pretty cute haha. The space itself wasn't intimidating at all.

When you hear "diet restaurant," you might picture something like a salad shop next to a gym, but this place felt like a normal casual restaurant you could just walk into for a comfortable meal.

Menu combos: 4 proteins × 5 bases

Looking at the menu at Why Starve, there were more options than I expected. You can choose your main protein from chicken, smoked duck, beef, or salmon, and pair it with light, pasta, oats, tofu noodles, or cauliflower rice. I liked that you're not eating the exact same meal every day — you can mix and match based on what you feel like or your usual diet.

It's not just calories listed — you can check carbs, protein, and fat at a glance, which seemed pretty useful for anyone working out or managing their diet who cares about nutrition breakdown. When dieting, it's not just about chasing the lowest calories — it's important to know exactly what nutrients you're eating and how much, and being able to compare that right while choosing the menu was great.

Beef tofu noodle protein set, 50g of protein

What I chose that day was the beef tofu noodle protein set. I also ordered a Greek yogurt and an Americano to go with it. The moment the food arrived, I was happy it was more filling than I expected hahaha.

Usually with diet meals, you get a big bowl that's mostly vegetables with just a few pieces of meat, but Why Starve gave a pretty generous amount of beef, so it really felt like eating meat. With the tofu noodles and various vegetables together, it felt closer to a proper meal than a plain salad.

Protein box with hearty beef chunks, tofu noodles, and vegetables

The beef was cut into hearty chunks and the portion was more generous than expected. It went well eaten together with the tofu noodles, and with vegetables mixed in each bite, the texture kept changing. I personally love noodles of all kinds, but regular noodles can feel a bit heavy when I'm watching my diet. Being able to choose tofu noodles instead was a really nice point. And it wasn't like the tofu noodles were just a small token amount tucked among the vegetables — they were substantial enough to serve as the base of a full meal ♡

There was broccoli, bell pepper, green beans, chickpeas, black olives, and more mixed in, plus crunchy toppings, so the texture kept changing as I ate.

According to the nutrition label posted in the store, the beef tofu noodle box was listed as 427kcal, carbs 20g, protein 50g, fat 17g. 50 grams of protein!!! That's a pretty eye-catching number for anyone eating a post-workout meal or keeping an eye on their usual protein intake ♡

Greek yogurt topped with cereal and blueberries

Wrapping up with Greek yogurt and an Americano

The Greek yogurt came topped with cereal and blueberries, so it looked appetizing right away. Eating the thick Greek yogurt together with the crunchy cereal gave a nice texture, and the blueberries here and there were a nice touch throughout.

Sometimes when you're managing your diet, you eat a proper meal but then suddenly crave dessert and end up eating something else — having the Greek yogurt included like this made it easy to finish the meal cleanly hahaha. I also ordered an Americano to sip alongside the meal, and the whole combination worked well together.

Would I go back?

What I liked most about Why Starve Gongdeok Main Branch was that it didn't feel overly like "diet food." Managing your diet isn't something you do for a few days and stop — it's about keeping it up consistently, and eating nothing but chicken breast or salad every time inevitably gets exhausting.

Here, besides beef, there's chicken, smoked duck, and salmon, and you can switch the base to pasta, oats, tofu noodles, or cauliflower rice, so I feel like I could visit multiple times and try different combinations. Next time I want to try chicken or salmon with oats!! Recommended 👍
