Hwarong Jujeom is a cooking-focused bar in Gwanak, Seoul, near Seoul National University Entrance Station. We ordered its pressure-cooker gopdoritang for dinner: boneless chicken thigh, plenty of intestines, and pleasantly spicy sauce made it filling with rice. Verdict: a great first-stop dinner even without drinks.
Geumnyeong Gomtang Yeoksam Branch is a gomtang restaurant between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon in Seoul. I ordered gomtang for 13,000 won and three kimchi king dumplings for 6,000 won, and loved the speedy service, self-serve kimchi, and roomy seating. Verdict: A filling, easy solo Korean meal I’d happily return for.
