Hwarong Jujeom is a Korean pub at the far end of Sharosu-gil, near Exit 1 of Seoul National University Station in Gwanak, Seoul, best known for gopdoritang (spicy chicken stew with beef intestines) served in a pressure cooker. The writer stopped by Hwarong Jujeom around 10 p.m. for a second round with a younger friend who had just moved to the neighborhood, sat at an outdoor table and added daechang (beef large intestine) to the gopdoritang; the chicken was tender enough to fall apart and the intestines had no gamey smell. The spice level can't be adjusted, but Hwarong Jujeom's gopdoritang with extra daechang is worth ordering.
