Waffle and drinks ordered at The Sweetree

The Sweetree, the café near Balsan Station, is the place I think of whenever I want waffles!! They sell lots of kinds, but my favorite is the maple waffle. I prefer a plain waffle to one with whipped cream or fruit toppings, and the maple syrup here has a rich aroma without being too sweet, which suits me perfectly. This time I also tried the taro milk tea, whose chewy pearls impressed me, and a 1L Americano.

It's a 5-minute walk from Ujangsan Station. It's inside an alley, but right off the main road, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding it. The shop is fairly small, and you can eat waffles and drinks there or take them away.

You can order delivery too, which is nice when you crave something sweet at home. This time I ate the maple waffle and taro milk tea in the shop and took the 1L Americano home.

What's on The Sweetree's menu?

As a waffle specialist, The Sweetree has a varied menu. There are basics like plain and maple, then cinnamon, chocolate, almond crunch, cream cheese, blueberry, fresh strawberry whipped cream and more. Besides waffles, there are plenty of drinks and desserts, including coffee, bubble tea and bingsu (Korean shaved ice).

Maybe it's because they use French Le Gall butter, but the waffles here are really good. The maple waffle's charm is its sweet maple syrup, and with the butter's flavor on top, no wonder it's more popular than the other breads and desserts~

When I was little, I loved waffles packed with whipped cream! Packed with chocolate! You know? Maybe it's because I've gotten older... but now I like a plain waffle more than one full of cream or fruit. They have salt bread and butter rice cake too, so they've got all the trendy desserts these days!!

Is The Sweetree's maple waffle too sweet?

Maple waffle, taro milk tea and Americano at The Sweetree

The Sweetree's maple waffle is a plain waffle where the sweetness isn't overwhelming and you can still really taste the maple. A plain waffle with maple syrup is my thing, so I ordered the maple waffle again at this Balsan Station waffle favorite.

If it were just sweet, it wouldn't be my top pick, but the sweetness comes with a lovely fragrance, and that won me over.

Are the pearls in The Sweetree's taro milk tea chewy?

The pearls in The Sweetree's taro milk tea were really chewy. Taro milk tea is a favorite of mine, right up there with the maple waffle. For bubble tea, I think the texture of the pearls matters more than the drink itself, absolutely, absolutely!

Even chewier than the pearls I've had at Gong Cha, I'd say? They're springy and bouncy, so if you like pearls, try ordering it with a waffle. The taro flavor was strong, and the portion is generous.

How was The Sweetree's 1L Americano to go?

The Sweetree's 1L Americano is a large-size coffee sealed in a can, so it was fine to take home and keep for later. It was for my husband, who's been working late every day lately~~ I ate the waffle and milk tea in the shop and brought the coffee separately. Waffles and bubble tea can be packed to go too, so if you're craving something tasty, order some~
