Sindorim Korean bar: light drinkers' date across the window, Mugeunji
In short
Korean Suljip Mugeunji (한국술집 무근지) is a Korean bar and kitchen on a roadside corner of the Sindorim eating street in Guro, Seoul. On a fully booked evening, the couple took the last window seat at Korean Suljip Mugeunji, one sitting outside and one inside, facing each other through the open window, and shared sweet makgeolli (rice wine), a smiley-face cheese potato pancake and a spicy aged-kimchi jjamppong (seafood noodle soup). Verdict: Korean Suljip Mugeunji is an easygoing Sindorim date-night bar, even for couples who can't handle much alcohol.

What is Korean Suljip Mugeunji in Sindorim like, and how was the seating?
Korean Suljip Mugeunji (한국술집 무근지) is a Korean-style bar on the roadside of the Sindorim eating street, and it's always buzzing in the evening. The day we visited, the inside was already full, and we took the one remaining window seat, facing each other through the window.

Every time I walked along the Sindorim eating street, this Korean bar, Mugeunji, was packed with people, and I was so curious! So I went with my kkanbu (my partner in crime) for an evening date in Sindorim.

Of course, it was already full inside when we arrived! Luckily exactly one seat was left, and it was a very unusual window seat where one person sits outside and the other inside, facing each other through the window. With the cool evening air it felt like a real date, and it was actually so atmospheric and nice haha.
What did we order at Mugeunji?
At Mugeunji we ordered cheese potato pancake, aged kimchi jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and makgeolli (Korean rice wine). The menu has a wide range of snacks, from pasta to grilled fish.

We ordered cheese potato pancake, aged kimchi jjamppong, and makgeolli. Maybe because it's a bar, it felt like the menu offers every snack combination you could want! From pasta to grilled fish, it's seriously varied.
Is Mugeunji's makgeolli OK for people who don't drink much?
The makgeolli came out first, and it was sweet enough that even two light drinkers like us had no trouble with it.

We started with a refreshing glass of the makgeolli that came out first, and it was pleasantly sweet, easy enough even for light drinkers like us, so it went down super smoothly!

How do Mugeunji's cheese potato pancakes taste and look?
Mugeunji's cheese potato pancake comes as a smiley face: chili sauce and honey sauce for the eyes, cheese powder for the mouth. The outside is crispy like a snack, and the inside is full of stretchy cheese.
Then the cheese potato pancake, the perfect match for makgeolli, arrived. They dotted two eyes with chili sauce and honey sauce and sprinkled white cheese powder in a curve to make a smiley face, and it was so unique and cute that I couldn't not take photos.

I felt a little sorry (?) to break the cute smile, but when I tore the pancake apart with chopsticks, it was packed with savory cheese that stretched out like a waterfall!

The outside is crazy crispy like a snack, while the inside is chewy and moist from the cheese, so the texture is amazing. Especially when you dunk a freshly cooked, warm, crispy potato pancake into the sweet honey sauce, you get the perfect trio of crispy, sweet and savory.

Just honey-sweet bliss,,, truly honey-sweet bliss 'ㅅ'

I only raved about the honey, but the chili sauce is good too,,,,

How spicy is Mugeunji's aged kimchi jjamppong?
Mugeunji's aged kimchi jjamppong is loaded with well-fermented aged kimchi and seafood like squid, so the broth is spicy and refreshing. After the greasy cheese potato pancake, it cleaned up the palate nicely.
While we were eating the sweet, oily pancake, the aged kimchi jjamppong arrived at just the right time.

Unlike regular jjamppong, it's generously filled with truly well-fermented aged kimchi, which was really unusual, and with plenty of seafood like squid too, so the broth looked very rich.
Maybe thanks to the aged kimchi, the broth is exceptionally spicy and refreshing!
I took a spoonful of the broth first... wow! It's really spicy and seriously intense haha. My stomach, a bit heavy from the potato pancake, was cleared out in one hit, like a reset! The hot, spicy broth smacks your tongue, and saying this is a perfect drinking snack, my kkanbu and I kept clinking our makgeolli glasses haha.
