Daegu raw beef takeout with beef radish soup: Chulgeungil Saenggogi
In short
Chulgeungil Saenggogi Daegu Jongno Branch is a raw beef and mungtigi (thick-cut raw beef) restaurant in the Jongno food alley near Jungangno Station in Jung-gu, Daegu. With no phone reservation, a half-and-half large mungtigi (170g + 170g) ordered on the spot was packed in 10 to 15 minutes with the house dipping sauce and a freshly made beef radish soup, enough for two people over two days. Takeout leaves out the in-store side dishes, but the thick, chewy bite of same-day butchered mungtigi is exactly the same.

With the weather turning cooler these days I keep craving soju haha — and instead of something heavy, I want side dishes or meals that are a bit savory and nutritious too. The place I'm introducing this time is exactly that: Chulgeungil Saenggogi, a famous raw beef restaurant in Daegu.
Daegu has quite a few good mungtigi (thick-cut raw beef) and raw beef restaurants, but this one is right downtown, easy to get to, and has group seating too, so it's a solid choice for a family gathering this coming Chuseok.
Where is Chulgeungil Saenggogi Daegu Jongno Branch, and when is it open?

Chulgeungil Saenggogi Daegu Jongno Branch sits in the restaurant-packed alley near Jungangno Station, open every day of the year, so you can drop by anytime! Takeout is available (no delivery), and I'd recommend using the nearby paid parking lot since there's no dedicated parking.
What the restaurant looks like inside

The Jongno food alley near Jungangno Station is packed with restaurants — mostly meat places, makchang (grilled intestines), raw beef, and Japanese-style izakayas! You'll see people in their 30s and 40s along with longtime Daegu locals here, and even on a weekday, the Chulgeungil Saenggogi I visited was already full of customers.

Outside there were waiting seats for the line, and no separate parking space! And under one of the chairs I spotted a cute stray cat too..!

The seating was mostly 4-tops and group tables, and the whole place felt clean and bright overall, with partitions set up at every table — so it seems like a comfortable, more private spot to eat without being bothered by the next table.
What's on the menu at Chulgeungil Saenggogi

Let me show you the menu at Chulgeungil Saenggogi — it's mainly organized around three set menus, two set menus, mungtigi half-and-half, and yukhoe (Korean-style beef tartare) half-and-half, plus lots of add-on items and rice dishes! For the half-and-half options you can also order just one type, worth keeping in mind, and takeout comes with a discount so check with the owner!
Can you get mungtigi takeout without calling ahead?

I didn't call ahead to order — I just let them know roughly when I'd arrive before heading over, and after ordering on site, they had my takeout ready in about 10 to 15 minutes!
What comes in the mungtigi half-and-half large (170g + 170g) takeout

Oh wow, the marbling on this mungtigi looks amazing just to look at,, they really sliced it in thick, generous chunks. Keep in mind that with takeout, the side dishes you'd get eating in-store are left out — you just get the raw beef, sauce, and radish soup. So if you're planning to get it packed, this is good to know beforehand!

They packed a really generous amount of beef radish soup too, and since it was freshly made it was still so warm and delicious! Inside, they loaded it up with plenty of radish and meat..! And the mungtigi had an amazing chewy bite — delicious eaten plain, and dipped in the house sauce it was even savorier and better.

Wow,, can you see how thick these cuts are..? The two of us split it over two days, and honestly it's perfect as a drinking snack too, or as something to spark your appetite when you're not feeling hungry! My husband, who loves raw beef and yukhoe, ate it all up happily too. Every single piece of that mouth-filling raw beef that disappeared made me a little sad, not gonna lie,,
Same-day butchered mungtigi in Jongno, Daegu, even on a Saturday

It had genuinely been a while since I had mungtigi, so I enjoyed it a lot — and best of all, the quality is great and it's butchered same-day even on Saturdays, so whether it's a weekend or weekday, you can conveniently visit or get takeout anytime! If you've never tried mungtigi before, or you're looking for a place to take the family this Chuseok, how about this Daegu raw beef spot, Chulgeungil Saenggogi Daegu Jongno Branch?!
