What kind of place is Sorae-san Hwadeok Saengseon Gui?
Sorae-san Hwadeok Saengseon Gui (소래산화덕생선구이) is a grilled fish restaurant at the entrance of the Sorae Mountain hiking trail. I was curious because the fish is grilled in an ocher-clay oven instead of being fried in oil, which keeps it clean and light. The golden grilled fish, the nutty barley rice and the neat side dishes were all delicious ദ്ദി˶ˊᵕˋ˵)

Since it sits right at the trailhead, it's a great place for a hearty meal before or after a hike, so I recommend it if you're looking for a restaurant near Sorae Mountain ㆅㆅ

Besides grilled fish, are there eel and meat dishes?
There isn't just grilled fish, there are eel dishes too•••!! Eel plus all-you-can-eat sirloin for ₩33,000 per person? Next time I have to try the eel,,,

Are there enough seats for groups or family meals?
Inside, there were really a lot of seats, from tables for 2–4 to 6 and even 12 people. It's good for a filling meal after hiking Sorae Mountain, and it looks fine for a family meal or a get-together with friends too.

Sorae-san Hwadeok Saengseon Gui menu and prices
This is a grilled fish specialist that cooks in a 500℃ clay oven: mackerel, flatfish, Atka mackerel, baekdae (a thin, mild flatfish), Spanish mackerel and even hairtail. Crazy~

The all-you-can-eat option is ₩33,000 for adults, ₩22,000 for children and ₩12,000 for preschoolers. Besides eel, there are meat options like beef, pork jowl and pork belly.
- Clay-oven mixed grill with stone-pot rice: ₩18,000
- Clay-oven mackerel set (one whole fish): ₩15,000

What are the side dishes and self-serve corner like?
The side dishes go really well with grilled fish! Personally, I loved the bouncy acorn jelly salad (dotori muk muchim) and the green onion kimchi.

There's even a self-serve corner, so refills are possible! Kimchi and green onion kimchi, all kinds of seasoned vegetables, salad and ssam greens~

Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and fish cake too! And there's one of those trendy Han River ramyeon machines. Quite the unusual combo 👍
How was the ₩18,000 clay-oven mixed grill?
I ordered the clay-oven mixed grill for ₩18,000, which comes with stone-pot rice plus baekdae, mackerel, Spanish mackerel and Atka mackerel.

The rice was stone-pot rice with nutty multigrains, and the cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) had that distinctive savory aroma and deep broth that went well with the rice. A combo that will make a bowl of rice vanish ദ്ദി

Baekdae, mackerel, Spanish mackerel and Atka mackerel all came on one platter. Each fish had a different size and shape and was grilled golden, so it looked appetizing from the start ꔛ Since it's grilled in a 500℃ clay oven rather than fried in oil, the outside was nicely cooked.

I deboned the fish so it was easy to eat. Once I opened it up, the flesh was white and moist!! The mackerel was as good as ever, and the Spanish mackerel was thick and tender, just right with rice haha.

Putting the golden fish on top of hot stone-pot rice is a total rice thief ☻

The portion of fish was quite generous, and it felt like it never ran out no matter how much I ate haha. Deboning took a while too, and there was a lot.
After a hearty meal of grilled fish, I finished neatly with a cold cup of tea haha.

Who would I recommend Sorae-san Hwadeok Saengseon Gui to?
If you're looking for a grilled fish restaurant in Incheon, I'd recommend the Jangsu branch of Sorae-san Hwadeok Saengseon Gui 🐟 It's easy to find, right at the Sorae Mountain trailhead! The fish grilled in a 500℃ clay oven was golden outside and moist inside, so tasty haha.
I especially recommend the mixed grill, where you get to try four fish at once: baekdae, mackerel, Spanish mackerel and Atka mackerel. With nutty stone-pot rice, cheonggukjang stew and neat side dishes, it makes a filling meal 💙 The place is spacious, with tables for 2–4, 6 and 12, so it's perfect for family meals or group gatherings 👍
