Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch is a social izakaya bar two minutes on foot from Times Square in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, open Monday to Saturday from 18:00 to 02:00. Stopping in for a second round after dinner, the order was cream shrimp, beef intestine skewers (daechang) and chicken skewers, and the skewer seasoning and the cream shrimp sauce stood out most. For a dimly lit second-round spot in Yeongdeungpo, Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch is a good fit.

Jung-gu Chinese restaurant for a pre-Namsan hike dinner: Huhugwan

Huhugwan is a Chinese restaurant on Seosomun-ro in Jung-gu, Seoul, just around the corner from City Hall Station. As a feast before climbing Namsan, the order was fried eggplant, majangmyeon (noodles in peanut sauce with mala spice) and dumplings, and the eggplant came out crisp outside and soft inside. Huhugwan looked like a place to visit just for photos, but the fried eggplant and majangmyeon are what stayed in memory.
