Seolleung crab restaurant for spicy braised blue crab: Haeseonok
Haeseonok Seolleung Branch is a 40-year-old gamjatang (pork bone stew) and blue crab stew restaurant about a 10-minute walk from Seolleung Station in Gangnam, Seoul, over toward the bar street. On a weekday evening at 7pm, the writer and her husband ordered the small braised blue crab (kkotgejjim) for 59,000 won with three bowls of rice at 1,000 won each — Haeseonok serves the crab not steamed white but in a spicy sauce with two abalone and shrimp in the pot, and the couple cleared all three bowls. The sauce mixed into rice is good enough to win over even someone who usually finds picking crab meat too much work.
