Lightweight blue-light frames at 007 Optical, a Namdaemun optician

007 Optical is a glasses shop on the first floor of Sangdong Church in Namdaemun Market, Jung-gu, Seoul, long called the go-to spot for eyewear in the area. The writer went with a younger sister briefly home from Australia, picked a lightweight blue-light-blocking frame, had an eye exam and a progressive lens consultation, then found the glasses finished after a 30-minute walk around the market. For anyone in Korea on a short trip, the fast turnaround at 007 Optical is a real advantage.

Myeongdong jokbal restaurant with two free side refills: Miss Jokbal

Miss Jokbal Seoul Myeongdong Branch is a jokbal (Korean braised pig's trotters) restaurant on Myeongdong 3-gil in Jung-gu, Seoul. After browsing Namdaemun Market and Myeongdong street, the writer sat down to a late lunch of emperor's jokbal and kimchi kalguksu (kimchi knife-cut noodle soup), refilled the side dishes twice, and still took leftover jokbal home. Miss Jokbal is a good pick when you want a whole spread of Korean dishes on one table.
