Hapjeong cocktail bar with herb oil and rose perfume sprays: Rosetta
In short
Rosetta is a painting-themed cocktail bar on Eoulmadang-ro near Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul, open daily from 6pm to 5am. Rosetta has an outdoor terrace, bar counter seats, sofa seats and a group room; we tried four cocktails (Water Lily Pond, The Dancer on Stage, Madame X and Summer Sunlight) with burrata cheese, peach and tomato, and the tableside herb oil and rose perfume sprays stood out. Rosetta is a strong pick for a blind date or a second or third round after a wedding invitation get-together with friends.

I love going to cocktail bars and whisky bars, so I check out a lot of them and visit often. But so many are just dark, and the menus are the same safe drinks everywhere, which gets disappointing. This time, in Hongdae, I found a cocktail bar that is honestly the best I've been to, from the exterior to the mood to the quality of the cocktails!

It feels like Europe rather than Korea, and you can drink artistic cocktails that reinterpret famous paintings. I had to share it as a spot for a second round, a date, a blind date or a group meetup 🍸✨

Rosetta location and hours: open until 5am
- Address: 35 Eoulmadang-ro 5-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul (1st floor)
- Hours: daily 18:00–05:00 (open late, so perfect for a second or third round!)
- Features: near Hapjeong Station, with an outdoor terrace, bar counter seats, sofa seats and a group room
The exterior is classy, with a lovely outdoor terrace, so I was excited before even going in!
Interior like a fine European restaurant, with sofa, counter and room seating
Inside, you're greeted by a huge painting that catches your eye. It's old-fashioned yet warm, and you feel like you've walked into a high-end European restaurant.

The bar counter (dacchi-seok) has a pretty display of whiskies and other spirits, which makes it perfect for drinking alone.

The table area isn't split up by hard walls. Stylish sofas and a variety of tables are arranged together, so the mood is much softer and more classic. There are tables ideal for 2–3 people and room-style group seating, so it's great for gatherings!
Art cocktails inspired by famous paintings, and the food lineup

Rosetta's signature menu is its "art cocktails inspired by famous paintings"!

They reinterpret the mood and story of masterpieces through taste, aroma and looks. I'd never seen such a fresh idea anywhere else, and I was truly impressed.

The food is well covered too, from easy finger foods to meals like pasta.
Honest review of the signature cocktails and snack we tried

Water Lily Pond: just right as a first glass
Water Lily Pond (수련연못) is made with a dry sherry base, fig, cherry blossom and herb oil. The fig and cherry blossom aromas blend nicely over the dry sherry.
The bartender sprays the herb oil right at your seat, which is an impressive little performance. It was fresh, clear and clean in the mouth, perfect as an opening glass 🌿
The Dancer on Stage: the glass my friend and I both marveled at
The Dancer on Stage (무대 위의 무희) is made with cognac, herbal liqueur, black tea, banana and cream.

The moment I took a sip, my friend and I both went wide-eyed and gasped at the same time 😭

Behind the elegant, sweet flavor of black tea and cognac, the bitterness of herbs and a faint woody scent spread out in a strange, lovely way... It was truly artistic that one cocktail could have such varied, deep flavor.

Burrata cheese with peach and tomato (snack)

These aren't ordinary tomatoes but pickled tomatoes, so they aren't just sour. The sweet-tangy savory flavor was amazing!
Add sweet peach and mild burrata, and it was perfect for nibbling cleanly alongside cocktails without feeling heavy.

Madame X: the rose-scented spray performance
Madame X (마담X) is made with ruby port, rose, hibiscus and oak chips. It has a rich ruby port base, and the staff pour the port at your table, then lightly spray an edible rose perfume. It's a romantic performance!
A fragrant rose scent drifted softly the whole time I drank, so sight, smell and taste were all delighted 🌹
Summer Sunlight: an unusual cocktail topped with seasoned seaweed
Summer Sunlight (여름햇빛) is made with yuzu, Korean pear, lemongrass, Kirpy yogurt and seasoned seaweed (gim). This one is really fascinating and appealing! The base is fresh yuzu, sweet pear and the young, fragrant taste of yogurt, and surprisingly, seasoned seaweed goes on top as a garnish.
The savory, salty seaweed blends subtly with the cocktail's freshness. It's strange but the kind of treat you keep reaching for!
Even the restroom has mouthwash, floss and hair ties
On a blind date or an important gathering, the restroom matters more than you'd think, right? Rosetta's restroom is very clean and so thoughtful that it even has mouthwash, dental floss and hair ties.
Verdict: highly recommended for blind dates and after-parties

A quiet yet upscale mood, great snacks, and painting cocktails with artistic stories and performances! Being open until 5am makes it ideal for a late second or third round too. If you're near Hapjeong Station looking for a special date course, a bar with the atmosphere to boost your blind date odds, or an after-party spot, I highly recommend it! Do visit! 🍸🎨👍
