Gwanghwamun gyukatsu after an art exhibition: two sets at Ichigyu

Ichigyu Gwanghwamun Branch is a gyukatsu (breaded beef cutlet) restaurant on basement level 1 of Lemeilleur Jongno Town, a 5-minute walk from Gwanghwamun Station in Jongno, Seoul. After seeing the Beyond Impressionism exhibition at Sejong Center, the writer ordered the sirloin gyukatsu set and the steki set with mini curry and karaage & fried shrimp, then grilled the meat on the tabletop burner with Isigny butter. Free rice refills and wide tables made Ichigyu a comfortable post-exhibition date meal.

Sinsa seafood restaurant, Monday-night reservation: Parang Haenyeojip

Parang Haenyeojip Sinsa Direct Store is a seafood restaurant a 5-minute walk from Sinsa Station, near Garosugil in Gangnam, Seoul. The writer booked through Naver Reservation for 6:30 on a Monday evening and shared the signature haenyeo box (60,000 won on the tablet order screen) with her boyfriend: sea squirt, octopus, flounder, salmon, red seabream, abalone, steamed clams and futomaki, all fresh with no fishy taste. Every table was full by 7pm, so Parang Haenyeojip is worth reserving if you are coming at peak time.
